North Platte, Ne - Imperial airbrush artist Armando Villarreal is sharing his art with Prairie Art Center in North Platte this month. Villarreal who has airbrushed hundreds of football helmets for Division 1 University's, painted portraits of famous Major League Baseball players, NBA players and a host of other sports projects is on display at the Prairie Arts Center in North Platte this month. On February 10 he'll be doing a live painting demo that you can see between 11am-4pm before an artist reception that evening from 4pm-5pm.&nbsp;

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Tara Krupicka about the Farm and Ranch Expo coming to the D&amp;N Event Center this week.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Farm and Ranch Expo is quickly approaching and will be the D&amp;N Event Center this Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday event will take place from 9:00am - 6:00pm while Thursday event will be from 9:00am - 4:00pm. The event is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.&nbsp;

This year, FFA students have a chance to participate in the FFA Passport. The FFA Passport has vendors who have signed up and students must visit the vendors and if they go to all the vendors, they can drop off their passport at the chamber table for a potential prize. Proceeds from this year's event will also help raise scholarships for local students who are interested in going into the Ag field.&nbsp;

St. Luke's Catholic prepares for Catholic Schools Week & Winter Festival this Sunday (Podcast)

Ogallala - The Youth Inspired Philanthropy Project hosted by the Keith County Foundations Fund is excited to see growth in the project as they head into their 4th year. Applications are open and are due on February 20th (<a href="https://www.keithcountyfoundation.org/yipapplication">click here for the application</a>). The showcase will take place February 22nd from 5:00pm MT - 6:30pm MT at the Kathleen Lute Public Library in Ogallala.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Guardians of the Children - FlatRock Chapter is gearing up for their 10th Annual "Caller" Chili/Soup &amp; Rib/Meat Cookoff &amp; Silent Auction event Saturday, February 3rd at the D &amp; N Event Center in North Platte. The event runs from 11am - 2pm. All proceeds from the fundraiser event will be used to further the mission of the Guardians of the Children - FlatRock Chapter.&nbsp;

Tickets to get into the event are $5, which allows you to try all the food. The Lil Guardians will be selling drinks and cinnamon rolls for their fundraiser during the event. Prize money is up on the lines for participants as it is community voting.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The North Platte city council held their regular meeting on January 16th, and different agendas were discussed amongst the council. The council has approved moving forward the rec center project into bid, update on the skate park, emergency snow route update and so much more.&nbsp;

<i>Edit from ORAC: Missoula Children's Theater auditions for K-12 students have been postponed until Tuesday, January 16, from 4-6 p.m. at Prairie View School (Small Gym) due to the frigid, icy conditions!</i>

OGALLALA - The Missoula Children's Theatre heads to Ogallala and invites area students to try out for Peter and Wendy. Tryouts are this Monday from 4:00-6:00pm MT at Prairie View Elementary School and tryouts will be held in the small gym. Tryouts are open to any student K-12 and all area students are welcome to tryout. 50-60 students will be selected.&nbsp;Students must bring their permission slip with them to the tryouts.&nbsp;

Students selected must be able to attend all the sessions throughout the week that the Missoula Children's Theatre will host. This includes workshop sessions and all practices. The event is being hosted by the Ogallala&nbsp;Regional Arts Council and the Ogallala Optimists.&nbsp;&nbsp;

PODCAST - Missoula Children's Theatre coming to Ogallala, tryouts now Tuesday due to weather

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with 4-H'ers Josh and Joelle Ewald and 4-H Development Extension Educator Caitlyn Jacobson about the 4-H Companion Animal Project.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - 4-H is America's largest youth development program across the United States that helps learn skills that will last a lifetime. The age requirement for 4-H is the ages of 8-18. There are many different categories that 4-H'ers can participate in during their time in the program. One program that is offered is the 4-H Companion Animal Project.&nbsp;

Companion animals is a diverse group of animals that include dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, companion birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and so much more. The program helps youth opportunities to learn and develop life skills and learn knowledge and proper ways of taking care of companion animals.&nbsp;

When it comes to participating in the event, the 4-H'rs need to have their animal ready for a judgement. Animals need to be prepped for shows and it takes time to get them ready. "Depending on the animal, but dogs you have to groom them, give them a bath, get their carrier ready and they're ready to go," said Josh Ewald.&nbsp;

Joelle Ewald, who competed in the 4-H Companion Animal Project last year entered her cat into the show. "Last year, I entered my cat Pumpkin into the show, and I got to talk to the judge which was so much fun," said Joelle Ewald.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Also in March, Mid-Plains United Way is teaming up with Pals Brewing Co. on March 30th for the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt for adults. Eggs will contain many cool prizes. You must be 21+ to attend. Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Geoff Exstrom who is the Director of Communications and Media Relations for the Omaha Supernovas, a brand-new professional volleyball team. Exstrom talks about his role with the team, training camp, season opener and more.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - Nebraska's newest volleyball team, the Omaha Supernovas, are getting ready to kick off their inaugural season on January 24th, when they welcome the Atlanta Vibe to CHI. First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm. The team, which has many Nebraskans excited from border to border, is loaded with high quality players.&nbsp;&nbsp;

One player on the training camp roster is D2 UNK former All-American setter and Kearney native Maddie Squiers has been turning heads during her time at camp. She was invited to the mini camp and then extended an invitation to the main training camp.&nbsp;&nbsp;

First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm. The team, which has many Nebraskans excited from border to border, is loaded with high quality players.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><figure>

Post News Director Canon Rath caught up with Ashley Lewis to give us an update of what has been going on at the Connection Homeless Shelter and recap the holiday season and more.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE –The shelter recently wrapped up its holiday campaign and is grateful for all the support they have received from the community. The Connection Homeless Shelter also SMART RECOVERY, which stands for Self-Management in Recovery training program gets together every Thursday at 7:30pm at the shelter. NORTH PLATTE - The Mid-Plains United Way has wrapped up its giving, fall and year end campaign and so far, has raised around $128,000 out of the $200,000 goal and are paced towards the goal. Mid-Plains united way has officially opened the 2024-2025 Partner Agency Applications and to see if your organization is eligible, <a href="https://www.midplainsunitedway.com/application">click here</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The United Way is also hosting many different events and campaigns coming up soon. If you would like to learn more about what's going on or how to become a partner agency, check out the podcast above.&nbsp;

Items include Jim Nisley has been reelected as council president, the new shade structure for Bill Wood Field, annexation of land in the southeast part of North Platte and so much more.&nbsp;

North Platte, Ne - Jailyn Miller a Sutherland 6th grader isn't bugging around, she's won the Purple Rainbow Ribbon at the Nebraska State with her 4H Entomology projects. Miller who resides with her family near Tryon, but attends school in Sutherland stays busy each year, entered in multiple 4H projects. A few years ago she started collecting bugs with her father, and is now winning not only at the local fair, but in Grand Island at the State Fair with Entomology.&nbsp;
