(Audio) Deborah's Legacy Landscape and Garden Tour this Friday and Saturday

North Platte, Ne - March 7 &amp; 8 of 2024 will be one the Kuhlmann family will remember for a long time. The night of March 7 was the evening that the area received a record snow of over 15 inches, 14.6 inches of that came over a 6-hour period, some portions of the area received closer to 20 inches of snow. At the KJ's Boots &amp; Western Wear store at the intersection of I-80 and the Hershey/Dickens road south of Hershey, all the snow that fell caused the business's roof to fail. Connie Kuhlmann (owner) said her husband Kevin had gone to the store on the afternoon of March 8 to clear their parking lot and scoop the walk when he went into the store around 5pm and realized part of the roof had collapsed.

A phone call went out from Kuhlmann at the time to friends and family, to rush to the store and try to get the inventory out of the building before a larger problem developed. Within an hour of the call, a dozen people showed up to help with trailers, moving dollies and manpower. Later a Facebook post for help went out on the local Hershey page, and within 15 minutes much of the community of Hershey came to the aide of the Kuhlmanns.

Nearly 3 months later, KJ's has reopened in North Platte in the old Sun-Mart building, now home to New Life Church, MEGA Gymnastics and CMH Interiors. Plans are still in the air for the old KJ's building in Hershey, but Connie Kuhlmann says "we hope to reopen in Hershey, but in the meantime North Platte has become our new home."

KJ's opened in North Platte on June 1, and is running a 20% off special through June 15th during the Buffalo Bill Rodeo, part of Nebraskaland Days. Store Hours 9m-6pm Monday-Saturday, 1-4pm on Sundays.&nbsp;

North Platte, Ne - The Miss Rodeo Nebraska and Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska competition begins Sunday at the Wild West Arena in North Platte. Nebraska is one of the only States that host their competition and pageant during a big rodeo event like the Buffalo Bill Rodeo at Nebraskaland Days according to 2010 Miss Rodeo Nebraska, Michelle Boeshart-Whitson. Whitson, who is the current MRN President says "we definetley set the bar, I think thats testimony to the amount of State Rodeo Queens that want to come to our pageant because they don't get a big stage from their own state."

She went on to say the the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Pageant "tries to replicate the Miss Rodeo America Pageant that all these girls will compete at if they win during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas."

Miss Rodeo Nebraska Contest ready to start on Sunday; Former Miss Rodeo Nebraska says the 2024 contest could be one for the books (Podcast)

Ogallala, Ne - The 2024 Keith County Big Give is off to a great start. After one week they've achieved their first goal. The first goal was a $5,000 addition to a $75,000 match; the community needed to raise $175,000 by 5pm on Friday, June 6 for the $,5000 addition to be added. As of 10am that day, the number already stood north of $177,000. North Platte, Ne - The first Miss Rodeo Nebraska Pageant was held in 1956, and since 1991 the Hall of Fame Buffalo Bill Rodeo at Nebraskaland Days in North Platte has been the backdrop for Nebraska's top rodeo royalty. Miss Rodeo Nebraska, JoSee Saults from Big Springs, Nebraska began her rein in January and will hold the title through the Miss Rodeo America Pageant in December. Maci Cox from North Platte is the current Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska.&nbsp;

Both ladies will see their successors compete over the next week to become the next Miss Rodeo &amp; Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska. Coronation for both are next Wednesday in North Platte.&nbsp;

It's $320 for a team of 4 and what's included is a meal, cart and golf. Prizes, raffles and mulligans can be purchased at the event. Proceeds from the tournament is used for the Hershey Public School Foundation that can be used for many different areas like scholarships, for teachers, etc.&nbsp;

North Platte, Neb. - 4-H is America's largest youth development program across the United States that helps learn skills that will last a lifetime. The age requirement for 4-H is the ages of 8-18. There are many different categories that 4-H'ers can participate in during their time in the program including livestock projects which can feature many animals.&nbsp;

Sam Sachtjen, a student from Hershey High School, has experience showing off many different animals at the fair. He had two older brothers who were in 4-H, so Sachtjen has been around 4-H for a long time. Sachtjen, being one of the older 4-H participants, has gained many life lessons and created many memories while in 4-H.&nbsp;

Wellfleet, Ne - This Saturday, June 1st is the 10th Annual Junkin' In June in Wellfleet. According to Jody Lemmert the organizer, this will be another fun filled day of antiques, collectables, fun for kids and adults too during the event which runs from 10am-4pm in Wellfleet, just south of North Platte. 10th Annual Wellfleet Junkin In June this Saturday

North Platte, Neb. - The Platte River Boots N' Music Festival at Pals kicks off Thursday, May 30th and runs until Saturday, June 1st. The three-day music festival will offer many artists, vendors and more. 12 bands will play over three days featuring local and out of state talent.&nbsp;

Post News Director Canon Rath had a chance to sit down with President &amp; CEO N.P Area Chamber and Development Gary Person to chat about what's going on in North Platte. The duo takes a deep dive into last week's meeting featuring Governor Jim Pillen about the "6 Regions, One Nebraska" initiative that was held at Mid-Plains Community College that welcomed over 80 leaders to campus. Person explains more in-depth what the initiative is all about.&nbsp;

Another hot topic in North Platte was the United States Postal Service announcement to move North Platte Processing and Distribution Center to Denver and make North Platte a Local Processing Center. North Platte, Neb. - The Mid-Plains United Way was one of over 80 local non-profits to sign up for this year's North Platte Giving Day and received just under $2,000 in donations. Anyone who donated to the Mid-Plains United Way was entered for a chance to win VIP tickets to Parker McCollum and the winner is Austin Brunkhardt. The United Way is still looking for teams to sign up for the human tractor pull that will be taking place June 18th.&nbsp;

North Platte, Neb. - The Prairie Arts Center debuted the Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska (SWAN) with 6 sculptures in downtown North Platte. These sculptures will stay for one year and a new set will rotate every year in May. It was a year in the making for the PAC to debut this new project. As summer approaches, classes are going to be offered. The PAC offers a whole variety of classes to take. Some classes are full.&nbsp;

North Platte, Neb. - The 9th Annual Music on the Bricks hits downtown North Platte Friday, May 17 and Saturday May 18. Friday's show will start at 7:00pm and will last until 10:00pm and Saturday's show starts from 6:00pm and goes on until midnight. There will be food trucks, games, vendors and so much more. Admission is $7 and credit cards will be accepted. There will be a $1 fee if you use a credit card. Kids 12 and under get in for free. Attendees should bring their own lawn chair.&nbsp;
