Virginia Connors age 87 of Merna died Friday, August 16, 2024, at her home in Merna.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Hospice Pastor Barry Holden officiating. The burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21st, from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Govier Brothers. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. 

Virginia May Connors was born September 21, 1936, in Broken Bow, NE to Eddie and Alice Jeannette (Bolen) Eacker. Virginia went to school in Broken Bow and received her GED in Alaska.

In April of 1960, Virginia was married to the love of her life in Leadville, CO at the Catholic Church. He proposed to Virginia in his brother’s bathroom, and they spent their honeymoon at the Colorado State Prison. The couple moved to Alaska in 1970, then moved back to Broken Bow in 1979, to take care of the elderly.

Virginia moved to Merna 34 years ago and went to work for Becton Dickinson where she worked for six years.

Virginia enjoyed flowers, gardening, old radio program stories, horses, butterflies, and cardinals.

Virginia enjoyed having coffee and talking with her friends and saying “Good Morning” to all who came through the doors of Trotters in Merna.

Her favorite movies were “Where the Red Fern Grows” and “The Help”, her favorite magazines were Good Ol’ Days and Western magazines, favorite food was Popcorn and Fudge.

Virginia was preceded in death by her son Blaine, whom she called my “Little Pumpkin”, her parents Eddie and Alice, her husband Robert Connors,  brothers Carl Eacker and infant brother Daryl Eacker.

Virginia is survived by her sons; Jimmy Eacker of Merna, Wayne Eacker of Fairbanks, AL., Terry Connors of South Korea, and Kyle Connors of North Pole, AL., and her daughter Candy (Norman) McCall of Cotopaxi, CO. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, numerous great-, great-great-, and great-great-great-grandchildren, her brother Larry (Roberta) Eacker of Arizona, a sister Betty Hickerson of Lincoln.
