Shirley C. Blauvelt, age 86 of Arthur, NE died Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Ogallala Community Hospital.
Shirley was born June 16, 1938, in Summit, IL, in an apartment over a bakery to Albert and Blanche (McKirdy) Adamcky. She attended St. Bernard's School through the eighth grade, her family moved to Lyons, IL, where she graduated from Morton High School in 1958.
Shirley enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958 and was honorably discharged in September 1960. She married her husband of 33 years, Karl E. Blauvelt in 1960; they had five children in their union: Edwin, William Katherine, Leslie, and Karl Jr.
The family made their home in Aurora, CO while Karl was still in the United States Air Force. Shirley then moved to Lincoln, NE where she worked for Super Saver Grocery store for 20 years before retiring at 65.
Shirley and her family moved to Arthur, NE in 2000, where she enjoyed camping, reading, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her husband Karl; Son Karl Jr. and her brothers, Albert, William, and Donald. Shirley is survived by her 2 sons, Edwin and William Blauvelt of Arthur, NE; Daughters Leslie Blauvelt of Arthur, NE, and Katherine Blauvelt of North Carolina; Grandchildren, Kenny, Chris, EJ, Fathe, Felicia, Autumn, and Shawn; 7 Great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. in the Arthur Cemetery with Reverend Blake Wilkes of the Arthur Baptist Church Officiating.
