With deepest sorrow we mourn the loss of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Bonita Yvonne (Baker) Ogier, 81, of Wallace, Nebraska, who entered eternal rest on July 13, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Bonita was born on February 10, 1945, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Clifford B. and Vernell “Jackie” (Herndon) Baker. She attended grade school in the North Platte area and graduated from North Platte High School with the Class of 1963. She later attained an associate’s degree from Mid Plains Community College.
Throughout her life, Bonita was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her family and community. She worked at Gerald Gentleman Power Plant, Union Pacific Railroad, and later served as Clerk, Bookkeeper, and Co-Owner of Ogier Petroleum and Transportation. She concluded her career as Housekeeping Supervisor at Perkins County Health Services, retiring in 2015. Retirement simply marked that beginning of another important chapter, as she became a full-time grandmother, lovingly caring for her grandchildren Isabella and Randall and her mother for a little over 5 years.
Bonita was an active member of the Wallace VFW Auxiliary, Global Methodist Church, Wallace Methodist Women, Social Order of the Beauceant (S.O.O.B.), and Order of Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron of Wallace Chapter No 241. She found joy in playing cards, reading comic books and romantic novels, watching the Hallmark Channel, and baking her famous buttermilk brownies. Purple was her favorite color, and she especially loved flowers and butterflies. Above all, Bonita was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her kindness, generosity, and loving heart touched everyone who knew her.
She will be remembered as a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose love for her family knew no bounds.
Bonita is survived by her loving husband Randy Ogier. They were united in marriage on December 30, 1981 at the Wallace United Methodist Church; her children, Thomas (Jill) Stearns Jr. of Hershey, Nebraska; Jacqui (John) Slinkard of Omaha, Nebraska; Kristine (Jeff) Cline of Littleton, Colorado; Paul (Jami) Ogier of Alma, Nebraska; Randa (Jon) Musil of North Platte, Nebraska
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Kayla (Larry) Mace, Colt (Robbie) Stearns, Rick Beisner, Chelsey (Vao) Yang, Brandon (Lisa) Slinkard, Courtney (Andrew) Rooney, Macayla Cline, Madysen (Andy) Ernst, Chase (Heidi) Stearns, Brayten Ogier, Mark Cline, Kaylan Ogier, Isabella Musil, Hendryx Ogier, and Randall Musil.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Sophia, Ella, and Elijah Mace; Wally and Sylvia Slinkard; Paige and Paislynn Stearns; Neal, Otis, Jack, Ford, and Rose Yang; Georgianna, Annalee, and Ella Rooney; Tristan Beisner; and Jedidah Stearns.
She is further survived by her brothers, Ronnie Baker and Larry (Lani) Baker, sister-in-law Deborah Poltack, along with adopted son Kenny (Tiffany) Ogier, adopted grandchildren Nathan Ogier and Shelby (Philip) Quackenbush, a host of extended family members and many dear friends who loved her deeply.
Bonita was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Vernell “Jackie” Baker; her In-Laws Willis and Patsy Ogier; her sister-in-law, Pat Baker; her grandson, Echlyn Ogier; and her first husband, Thomas Stearns Sr.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, Bonita’s legacy of compassion, generosity, unwavering faith, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:30am CDT at the Global Methodist Church in Wallace, Nebraska with a Luncheon to follow. Memorials have been established to family’s choice. As per Bonita’s request in lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation.
