Beverly Ione Otzel-Armbrust, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in North Platte, Nebraska, on August 1, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on September 20, 1938, in North Platte, NE to Harrison and Oleta (Miller) DaMoude. Beverly grew up in the North Platte (Wellfleet) area where she graduated from North Platte High School in 1956. Beverly’s life was deeply rooted in her hometown, where she was born and spent her years building a legacy of kindness and commitment. In October of 1960, Beverly married Martin Otzel, with whom she shared a loving marriage until his passing in December of 1981. Together, they welcomed four children, who became the center of Beverly’s world. Her life was a tapestry woven with the joys and challenges of motherhood, and she nurtured her family with compassion and strength.
A few years later she met a special friend Wesley Halligan and spent many wonderful years with him until his passing December of 1991.
Beverly later moved to Lincoln where she became a Manager for Armadillo Express. Her love of dancing led her to Harry Armbrust, whom she married and shared many precious years until Harry’s passing in 2020. Their union was one of warmth and companionship, providing Beverly with continued joy in her later years. Beverly’s life was one marked by enduring love, deep family connections, and unwavering devotion to those she held most dear.
She is survived by her children, Mark Otzel (Gayle), Keven Otzel, Cindy Kellie (Dan), and Greg Otzel (Jennifer), each of whom carries forward her legacy of love and resilience. Beverly is also survived by her cherished sister, Janet King, who remained a steadfast presence in her life, as well as beloved brother Chuck (Maggie) DaMoude, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that brought her endless pride and happiness. Their lives have been forever shaped by Beverly’s gentle spirit and nurturing guidance.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harrison and Oleta (Miller) DaMoude, brother Doug DaMoude and sister Jeannine (DaMoude) Mitchell-Stamm, her husbands Martin Otzel and Harry Armbrust and special friend Wes Halligan, along with a beloved granddaughter (Stephanie), whose memory she held close to her heart.
Throughout her 87 years, Beverly was known for her generous heart, her unfailing support for her family, and her ability to bring warmth and comfort to all who knew her. Her presence was a constant source of strength for her loved ones, and her absence will be deeply felt by family and friends alike.
A visitation will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, 1616 W B St, North Platte, NE 69101, on August 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with family receiving friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Funeral services honoring Beverly’s life will take place at the same location on August 7, 2026, beginning at 10:30 AM.
