Michael Bules, 61, of Lewellen passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at his lake home.
A Celebration of Life will be held over Memorial Weekend of 2024 at Lake McConaughy.
Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home and Cremations in Oshkosh is serving the Bules family.
Michael (Mike) Myron Bules was born May 24, 1962, in Sidney, Nebraska. Mike was the third child born to Karl J. Bules Jr. And Mildred Taylor Bules. He attended several elementary schools in Colorado and Nebraska and graduated from Chappell High School in 1981. He attended vocational school in Wyoming. He received his diploma for Parts Counterman. Mike had the opportunity to travel and work in Florida and Idaho.
In the late 1980s, he moved to Oshkosh and started working at Marshalltown Instruments. There he met Mary Schoettger and they married in 1990. Mike adopted Mary’s son, Elias (Bret), and they were a family. He had several jobs over the years, one being at Cabela’s, where he worked for nearly 20 years.
Mike liked playing horseshoes, playing pitch, country music, camping, spending time at the lake, playing chess with his grandson, Landon, and enjoying an ice-cold beer with family and friends. He was an active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church for many years.
Mike and Mary divorced in 2018.
Mike will be missed by his son Elias (Cara) and their children Brenna of Kearney, and Aubree and Landon of Minden, his father Karl J Bules Jr., his sister Karleen (Steve) Reichman all of Chappell, his brother Karl (Jan) Bules III of Lodgepole, his nephews Kristofer, Kyle, and Adam, Scott, and Shawn, nieces Robin, Julie, Lacy, Monica, Kim, Leslie and their spouses and children, aunts, uncles, cousins, sister-in-law and special friend Bonnie McKee, ex-wife Mary, and many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother Mildred, nephew James, niece Karman, great-nephew Michael, in-laws Bert and Helene, and brother-in-law Mike.
