Glenn Edward Petersen, 95 of North Platte, Nebraska passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Glenn was born October 23, 1930 to Agnes Marie and Carl Christian Petersen in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. He graduated from Columbia Heights High School and started working at the Honeywell Company as a tool and die fabricator. He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country from 1950 through 1953. Upon completion of his service, he resumed his tool and die pursuits at Northern Ordinance. On June 4, 1955, Glenn married Marilyn Achterkirch and they made their home in Spring Lake Park, MN. In 1958, Glenn made the decision to become a chiropractor. He graduated from Northwestern Chiropractic College and in 1964 he and Marilyn moved their family to North Platte, Nebraska where he practiced for 41 years. Glenn was a member of Rotary, The First Presbyterian Church where he also served as a Deacon, North Platte Ambassadors, and the North Platte City Council where he served two separate terms. He was also a member of Toastmasters, Newcomers, Couples’ Bridge, Men’s Bridge, Golf Leagues, and Boy Scouts where he served as a leader. He served as North Platte Planning Commission Chairman and was a past member of the Mid Nebraska Community Foundation.

Glenn served many years on the Nebraska Board of Chiropractic – and was honored twice as Chiropractor of the Year. He served as president of the Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association after many years of service at every level of the association. He was instrumental in creating and facilitating Nebraska Secure Care, and served as its chairman of the board for many years. This was an example of his relentless work ethic and vision as a leader.

Glenn enjoyed woodworking and he spent many hours making pieces of furniture and gifts for family and friends. Glenn loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He also spent half his life on I-80 traveling to and from Husker games with Marilyn.

Glenn is survived by his son, Dr. Rand and wife, Shelli Petersen of Kearney, NE; two daughters, Melanie and husband, Butch Lehmkuhler, of North Platte and Krisanne and husband, Tim Gentleman of Cheyenne, WY; six grandchildren, Leah and husband Kyle Overturf, Anna and husband Bradan Welch, Dr. Bailey and husband Brandon Oehm, Dr. Dean and wife Fang Lehmkuhler, Kali and husband C. J. Goins, Tyler and wife Taylor Gentleman: nine great-grandchildren, Kenley, Adelyn and Beckett Overturf, Eva and Abby Lehmkuhler, Miley and Sophia Goins, Penelope and Edison Gentleman and sister Margaret D’Aigle and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Marilyn, brothers Chuck, George, Dale, and Gary; sisters Carla and Dorothy.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte with Emily McCreery officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at Odean Colonial Chapel from noon- 6 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4 p.m. to 6p.m. A private family burial will be held prior to funeral service.
