OGALLALA, Neb. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man whose dog injured a woman during an incident earlier this month in Ogallala.

The Ogallala Police Department said officers were contacted around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 10 about a woman who was bitten while protecting her own dog near the legion baseball field.

Investigators said the man’s dog — described as a red and brown pit bull with black coloring on its face — broke loose and tried to attack the woman’s smaller dog, which she was carrying in her arms. The woman sustained injuries while attempting to shield her pet.

Police said the pit bull’s owner left the scene without providing his name or any information. He was last seen driving a small white pickup with unknown license plates.

Tri-County Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for anonymous information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man or others responsible.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ogallala Police Department or Tri-County Crimestoppers.
