On Sept. 4th at 0423 deputies were dispatched to West Emerson Ave. in Sutherland, Ne. to investigate a domestic assault. While enroute the deputies were told that the victim had escaped from the house and would meet them at Ozzies, on highway 30.
Deputies did meet with the victim who was in her vehicle with her child. Deputies could see that she was badly injured and summoned EMS. Her face was bloody and swollen and her right eye was swollen shut. The investigation revealed the victim was at her home at 0200 when Juan Martinez arrived uninvited. He insisted on having sex with her. When she refused, he sexually assaulted her.
During the sexual assault he slapped and beat her face. When she attempted to leave he restrained her and beat her even more. She was able to escape with her son when he passed out. The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Deputies went to the house and found Juan there. He was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center. He was charged with domestic assault 1st degree, sexual assault 1st degree and false imprisonment.
