Garden County Sheriff's Office
On 9/12/2023, a Deputy with the Garden County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop for speeding. After activating lights and sirens, a short pursuit began that ended on Main St in Lewellen. The Deputy made contact with the driver and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search.
Various drugs and paraphernalia were located in the vehicle and the driver was placed into custody. The driver, identified as Daisy King, was able to slip a cuff, escaped the cruiser and fled. During the search, Deputies located a male, Christopher Heater, hiding in a dumpster, who admitted to also being in the vehicle. With the help of NE State Patrol, Deuel Co SO, NE Game & Parks, Oshkosh Fire Dept. and local citizens, King was apprehended approximately 4 hours after she initially fled.
Items found in the vehicle include approximately 0.9 ounces of Marijuana, a glass pipe containing Meth residue, approximately 1.2 grams of Methamphetamine and a dagger with a blade of 13.5 inches. Daisy King was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana less than 1oz, Escape, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Failure to Obey Lawful Order, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speed Limit Violation and Accessory to Felony.
Christopher Heater was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana less than 1oz, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructing a Peace Officer, and a warrant for Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person x2, Attempted Burglary and Theft by Unlawful Taking $500-1,500. They are currently being held in the Garden County Jail.
