Tommy Fisher, Jr.

On December 26, 2023, Tommy Jefferson Fisher, Jr., passed away at his home in Hershey, NE.  Born to Tommy and Norma (James) Fisher, Sr. in North Platte, he was the sixth of eleven children.

Tommy attended school in North Platte and on November 24, 1969, he was united in marriage to Barbara Freeman.  From this marriage, he accepted two boys as his own: Mike and Jerry.  Tommy worked briefly for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1969 to 1971.  Upon his leaving the railroad, he began a long career as a heavy equipment operator in construction, once in a while, helping his son, Mike, transport and set mobile homes.  Tommy retired in 1986 due to medical complications but never quit his passion as a “junk dealer”.  He was known to attend all the auctions and garage sales he could and often sold items that most people considered to be junk.  He was a mechanical man, occasionally fixing vehicles for others; he even built his own boat, one that is still functional today.  On this boat, he loved to take people out for fishing trips; he and Barb spent 26 winter years in Texas, fishing.  Tommy was a jolly man and had a wonderful heart, treating others how he hoped to be treated.

Those that survive Tommy include his wife, Barbara of Hershey, NE; son, Mike (Sheila) Sneed of North Platte; grandchildren, Amy Sneed of North Platte, Scott (Chandra) Sneed of North Platte; great grandchildren, Austin (fiancé, Kylie) Sneed, Jillian Sneed, and Emily Sneed; great great grandchildren, Bowen and Barrett; siblings, Lois Reeves, Martha (Don) Hubert, Earl (Rae) Fisher, Joe (Cheryl) Fisher, all of North Platte; several nieces and nephews and other family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Tommy and Norma; son, Jerry; great granddaughter, Isabella (Dizzy) Sneed; siblings, David, Anard, Leo, Evelyn, Jerry, and Ira.
