NORTH PLATTE - The day has arrived, and the Big Idea North Platte event is taking place tonight at Venue 304 in North Platte. The event kicks off at 5:00pm with a social. Live pitches will start at 6:00pm.
The event is free to the public as there are nine finalists for the community category and seven for the youth category. A cash bar and food trucks will be available. Audience members are encouraged to bring their phone so they can also vote for the winner. The finalist in the community category is battling for prize money while the youth category is battling for scholarships.
Eagle Communications through the Schmidt Foundation has pledged $20,000 for the community category. First place will receive $10,000, second place receives $7,000 and finally third place receives $3,000. There are nine finalists for the community category.
Youth category finalist is looking to win scholarships that are made possible by Mid-Plains Community College. First place will receive $2,500, second place is $1,500 and third place is $1,000. The scholarships can be used at any Mid-Plains Community College campus. There are seven finalists for the youth category.
