   Beverley Grafel passed away at the age of 83 on June 1, 2024 from Endometrial Cancer.  She was born in Indianola, Nebraska to Albert and Eva (Hill) Young.  

    Beverley graduated from Indianola High School in 1959.   She married Elmore Grafel on June 4, 1961.  They bought a house and moved it south of Culbertson in 1964.  Here they farmed and raised animals.  She bottle fed many baby calves and they raised many pigs.  She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years; she was on the Board of Director for Girl Scouts of Kearney for six years and taught Sunday School for 25 Years. She has been a member of the Immanual Church of Christ in Herndon, Kansas.  She was involved in many clubs: the Culbertson Women’s Club, Red Hatters, Women’s Guild, two card clubs and the Foxy Ladies.  She was treasurer of UCC memorial fund and treasurer of North Herndon Telephone Company.  She worked for Area Agency on Aging for 25 years.  Her love was her grandchildren, sewing, visiting with people and her ducks.  In her spare time, she made over 6700 potholders and some of them went to other states.  She made over 100 quilts and gave some of them to neighbors and friends. 

    Beverley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Alan Aschoff of Hastings; three grandchildren, Miranda and Connor Brown of Roseland and Krystin Aschoff of Hastings; sisters-in-law, Barbara Grafel, Beaulah Brown and Donna Hoxie; nieces and nephews, Vesta Dack, Shirley Ele, Ron and Lisa Crocker, Mike Herrmann, Deborah and Joseph Blackmore, Tom and Charlotte Crocker, Sheila and Greg Marney, Roma and Richard Sensel, Mike and Elgene Grafel, Jim and Deb Grafel, Ron and Christine Brown, Kim Brown, Dave and Patty Brown, Lisa and Kurt Gerken, Lynn and Joyce Young, Denise Young, Larry and Mary Joe Young, Richard Minnick, Delton and Vickie Young, Dick and Carla Potts, George Mills and Paula Mills. 

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Grafel; two sons, Scott and Tim Grafel; brother and sisters-in-law, Gene and Patty Young, Warren and Helen Young; sisters and brothers-in-law, Naomi and Don Kelly, Elaine and Paul Mills. Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Grace and Clyde Dack, Gladys and Leo Crocker, Harlan and Norma Grafel, Ray Grafel, Ted Hoxie, Harry and Patty Grafel and Bill Brown; nieces and nephews, Dean Dack, Mary Lee Hermann, Richard Grafel, Dennis and Donna Grafel, Phil and Deb Young, Terry Young, and Joyce Minnick.  

    Beverley will be remembered for her kind heart, lending ear, laughter and sense of humor.  She will be missed by all who knew her and met her. 

    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.  Bev's family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

    Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Thursday morning, June 6, 2024, at McCook Christian Church in McCook, Nebraska with Pastor Kyle Dellevoet officiating.  Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook will follow services.
