Marilyn Simon Mulligan peacefully passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on April 25, 2024, at the age of 97.
Marilyn was born June 12, 1926, to Francisco and Margarita Reyes in Windsor, CO. She grew up in the Sutherland and Hershey area with her brothers and sisters.
In 1956, Marilyn married Joseph Simon of North Platte and they had two daughters, Lesa and Elaine. After Joe passed away in 1989, she married Billy Mulligan of Hershey in 1992.
Marilyn was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years in North Platte for St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Takenaga, Dr. Nakamura, People's Family Health Services and West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging. She was the quintessential care giver.
Along with her first husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Juan-Manuel, Joe, Manual (Inez) Frank (Evangeline), Moses (Pat) and Ralph; sister, Carmen Vieyra; and brothers-in-law, Johnny Vieyra, Vidal Navarro and Roger Peckham.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 31 years, Bill Mulligan of North Platte; daughters, Lesa (Craig) Kautz of Hastings and Elaine (Randy) Lenz of Maywood and stepdaughter, Billie Freihage of North Platte; grandchildren, Jordan (Dara) Kautz and Jed (Erin) Kautz and step-grandchildren, Christy (Jesse) Augustin and Shane (Kelsie) Freihage and Darcy, Stacy and Torey Lenz; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph (Hope), Larry (Ruthie) and Carlos; sisters, Hope Navarro, Rose Peckham, Esmeralda (Bill) Michael and Jessica (Doug) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Janie Reyes and Griselda Reyes; many nieces, nephews, other family and her friends.
The guest book may be signed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore.
Services will be held at Thursday, May 2, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rosary service will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Celebrant Father Jonathan Sorensen. Inurnment will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery.
