North Platte, Neb. - The North Platte Police Department will be participating in the “And Then It Clicked” seatbelt enforcement campaign from May 20th, 2024 through June 2nd, 2024.&nbsp; The high visibility traffic enforcement campaign will focus on all Nebraska traffic laws, with an emphasis on seatbelt usage.&nbsp; The Nebraska seat belt usage rate in 2023 was 77.3%.&nbsp;

A May 6th, 2024 seatbelt survey conducted by the North Platte Police Department showed a 63% rate of seatbelt usage.&nbsp; In 2022, 11,302 unrestrained people were killed in car crashes.&nbsp; That equates to one fatality every forty-seven minutes.&nbsp; The North Platte Police Department reminds drivers that one simple click could save your life.
