I-80 is currently closed from Lexington to Grand Island, and Hwy 30 is impassable both directions between Lexington and Grand Island according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the evening across the state.

Closures began on I-80 a little after 3:00pm when the Nebraska State Patrol announced that eastbound and westbound would be closed from Lexington to Kearney. Highway 30 was originally closed from Lexington to Elm Creek.

Troopers have responded to over 50 weather related incidents throughout the day. As night fall is rolling in, travel is not advised as roadways are covered in ice, reduced visibility according to NDOT.
