The Nebraska softball team earned its final ranking of the postseason on Tuesday, as it was tabbed No. 19 in the NFCA Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Huskers will take on 10 other teams in the poll this season – No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 5 UCLA, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Duke, No. 13 Texas Tech, No. 15 Missouri, No. 20 Baylor, No. 21 Northwestern, No. 22 Washington and No. 24 Mississippi State.
NU is one of five teams representing the Big Ten in the NFCA rankings, along with No. 5 UCLA, No. 21 Northwestern, No. 22 Washington and No. 23 Oregon.
Nebraska was ranked No. 14 by D1 Softball, No. 16 by USA Softball and No. 24 by Softball America. This marks the second straight season that the Huskers have been chosen for all four polls.
The Big Red opens its season on Thursday, Feb. 6 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic against Tennessee, who is No. 5 in the NFCA poll, at 6 p.m. (CT) in Clearwater, Fla.
