LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team swept Iowa 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 in front of 8,662 fans at John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Thursday night.&nbsp;

Nebraska (27-0, 17-0 Big Ten) clinched a share of the Big Ten title with the win. The Huskers have three Big Ten matches remaining and need only one more win to clinch the outright Big Ten title. NU's first chance to do so will be Saturday at No. 17 Indiana at 5 p.m. (CT).&nbsp;

The Huskers clinched their 37th overall conference title and sixth in the Big Ten. It marks the first time the Huskers have won three consecutive conference titles since 2004-08 in the Big 12.&nbsp;

Nebraska head coach Dani Busboom Kelly became the first volleyball coach in Big Ten history to win a conference title in the first year of being head coach at a school. John Cook won a Big Ten title at Nebraska in his first year in the conference in 2011, but it was his 12th season as head coach at Nebraska at the time.

At 27-0, the Huskers have matched their record to start the 2023 season, which is tied for the fourth-best start to a season in school history in the NCAA era.&nbsp;

Celebrating their 350th consecutive regular-season sellout, the Huskers hit .384 and held Iowa to .073. The Big Red had the edge in kills (45-29), blocks (9-4), digs (34-26) and aces (6-3).&nbsp;

Harper Murray had 11 kills and six digs, while Andi Jackson had 10 kills (.571) and three blocks. Virginia Adriano tallied nine kills (.500) and had three blocks and three aces. Taylor Landfair added seven kills (.438) to surpass 1,500 for her career. Rebekah Allick notched five kills and six blocks.

Bergen Reilly dished out 34 assists with seven digs, four blocks and two kills.

Iowa (14-15, 5-12 Big Ten) got eight kills from Alyssa Worden.&nbsp;

Set 1: NU bolted to an 11-3 lead with aces by Murray and Jackson and kills by six different players. Jackson had two kills around an ace by Adriano for a 17-8 lead. Landfair contributed three kills and a block with Allick, and Skyler Pierce finished out a 25-15 win with a kill.&nbsp;

Set 2: Adriano pounded a kill and served her second ace for a 4-2 start. Jackson and Murray each tallied three kills as the Huskers held on to a 15-13 lead, but the Hawkeyes leveled the score at 16-16. Adriano answered with a kill, and Landfair served an ace to make it 18-16. Iowa came back again to tie the score at 19-19 and 20-20, but Murray answered with kills each time. Set 3: A tightly contested third set saw Iowa with a 12-11 lead before an Adriano kill and a block by Jackson and Reilly put NU in front, 13-12. Clinch share of Big Ten Title in sweep of Iowa

The Nebraska men's basketball team looks for a tournament title, as the Huskers will face Kansas State in the title game of the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. Tipoff between the Huskers and Wildcats at the T-Mobile Center is set for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be carried online at Peacock and carried on the Huskers Radio Network, as well as Huskers.com and on the Huskers app. Tickets for Friday's game are available at t-mobilecenter.com.

Nebraska is in the Hall of Fame Classic title game for the second time and first since 2018, as the Huskers look to become the first Big Ten team to win the event since Maryland in 2014.

The Huskers (5-0) reached the title game with an 84-72 win over New Mexico Thursday evening. Jamarques Lawrence had a career-high 21 points, while Braden Frager added 20 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The Huskers, who never trailed, jumped out to a 22-5 lead and withstood a second-half rally from New Mexico before pulling away down the stretch. Nebraska hit 13 3-pointers, including four each from Lawrence and Frager. With his 21-point night, Lawrence became the fourth different Husker to post a 20-point game this season.

Kansas State (5-0) advanced to Friday's matchup with a 98-77 win over Mississippi State in the nightcap. PJ Haggerty led the Wildcats with 37 points, seven rebounds and eight assists to pace three KSU players in double figures. The Wildcats pulled away by shooting 57 percent, including 8-of-15 from 3-point range, in the second half.

Friday's title game features a pair of high-scoring offenses, as Nebraska averages 88.0 ppg and have four players averaging double figures, led by Pryce Sandfort (15.6 ppg) and Rienk Mast (15.4 ppg). KSU averages 94.4 ppg and has five players in double figures led by PJ Haggerty's 28.2 ppg.

CHADRON, Neb. – Zach Smith nailed a go-ahead three-pointer with 9.5 seconds remaining and Chadron State's defense blocked two shots in the final seconds to emerge with an 83-82 win over the University of Mary in CSC's home opener Wednesday afternoon at the Chicoine Center. 

A raucous Education Day crowd of over 850 local elementary and middle schoolers were treated to a show, as the Eagles and Marauders combined for 12 ties and 16 lead changes with neither team ever leading by more than seven points.

Jadon Cool poured in a season-high 22 points on 8 of 15 shooting to lead the Eagles offensively, while Smith provided the timely bucket on just his second field goal attempt of the contest. Cool, Jovan Jovanovic and Smith hit two three-pointers apiece.  

Freshman Luka Djurovic scored 13 points and 14 rebounds (both career-highs) for his first college double-double while Blessing Adesipe had 11 rebounds, including four offensive boards. 

The entire game felt as though it was building to the climactic moment that Smith delivered, as there was little to separate the two teams all afternoon. 

Chadron State and UMary finished with the same number of rebounds (42-42) and were within one on assists (CSC 14, Mary 13), turnovers (Mary 13, CSC 12) and free throws (Mary 13-19, CSC 12-18). Chadron State had two more made field goals than the Marauders (31 to 29), but the visitors hit two more three-pointers (11 to 9). 

Overall, the Eagles shot 47 percent from the field (31-66), 37.5 percent from three (9-24) and 66.7 percent from the line (12-18). Mary was 41.4 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from deep and 68.4 percent from the stripe. 

The largest lead of the day for either team came midway through the first half. Out of a 16-16 tie, Smith hit his first of two threes on the night before Ethan Russell and Blessing Adesipe both converted in the paint to put CSC up seven, 23-16. Mary took less than three minutes to erase that lead as back-to-back Marauder threes tied the score at 27-27 with 8:43 until halftime.

Neither team led by more than a basket the rest of the first half, as Mary shot just 5-for-9 from the line in the opening frame to lead by just one at halftime, 38-37. Ethan Russell (nine points) and Jovan Jovanovic (eight points) were CSC's leading scorers at the break, but neither one scored in the second half. 

Instead, the ball gravitated towards Cool, who scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half, as well as Djurovic (11 of 13 points in second half) and Adesipe (7 of 9). The Eagles also got to the free throw line far more as a team, attempting only two foul shots in the first half but shooting 10 of 16 in the second half. 

While the lead seesawed through much of the first and the early second half, UMary held the lead for nearly all of the final 10 minutes. A Relja Nagulic three-pointer gave the visitors a 64-62 lead with 9:18 to go and although CSC tied it twice, the Eagles did not retake the lead until Smith's shot. 

With the Marauders up six with five minutes to go, the Eagles got a three-pointer from Mack Keighran and a Collin Nick layup to cut the deficit to one. Blessing Adesipe went 3-for-4 from the line to eventually tie things up at 78-78 with just over two minutes to play. 

Djurovic, a freshman from Montenegro, came up with three defensive rebounds in the game's final minute and hit a jumper on the other end after the first to pull CSC within a point at 81-80. UMary's Kelton Coleman went 1-for-2 from the line with 23 seconds to play and Djurovic grabbed the miss, setting the stage for Smith's big shot. 

With Chadron State clinging to a one-point lead, Adesipe blocked a drive by Coleman. Nagulic picked up the loose ball for UMary and hoisted a three just before the buzzer, but Cool leaped to catch a piece of the desperation shot in mid-air, and it never reached the hoop.

Chadron State hits the road to face two more NSIC foes, taking on Sioux Falls this Friday and Minnesota State this Mankato, both in Sioux Falls.

🏀Smith's three in late seconds sends CSC to win over UMary Wednesday

<b>Lincoln&nbsp;</b>- Britt Prince erupted for a career-high 30 points and Nebraska dominated in every phase of the game, as the Huskers rolled to a 103-58 women's basketball win over Oral Roberts on Wednesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Nebraska improved to 5-0 with the win over the 2025 Summit League runners-up, while ORU slipped to 2-4.

Prince, a Nancy Lieberman Award candidate, recorded her first career 30-point game on 13-of-18 shooting, including 4-of-6 three-pointers, while adding five rebounds and four assists. The 5-11 point guard from Omaha reached 30 points with just under six minutes remaining in the game and exited at the five-minute media timeout.

Graduate forward Eliza Maupin added a season-high 17 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and a block in a season-high 20 minutes off the bench.

Junior Jessica Petrie put three Huskers in double figures with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal in just 16 minutes as a starter. It was Petrie's fifth straight game in double figures.

In all, 11 different Huskers scored, 10 notched at least one rebound and eight had multiple assists for a Nebraska team that got 99 minutes (56 points) from its starters and 101 minutes (47 points) from its reserves.

Nebraska finished 51.4 percent (38-74) from the field, including 39.1 percent (9-23) from three-point range, while sinking 94.7 percent (18-19) of it its free throws. The Big Red was a season-best plus-22 on the boards (49-27) and plus-seven in turnovers despite forcing a season-low 18 miscues.

The Huskers raced to a 29-7 first-quarter lead by scoring on 11 consecutive possessions in the final 6:30 of the period.

Prince scored Nebraska's first eight points in the second quarter to help the Huskers take their biggest first-half lead at 50-15 with 2:47 left.

The Big Red took a 55-23 advantage to halftime by hitting 53.8 (21-39) shots from the field, including 4-of-12 threes. Nebraska was also a perfect 9-for-9 at the free throw line in the half.&nbsp;

NU outworked the Golden Eagles, 24-13, on the glass in the half and won the turnover battle, 12-3.

Maupin went 5-for-5 from the floor and hit her only free throw attempt to join Prince in double figures in the half with 11 points, while adding three rebounds, two assists and a block in the first 20 minutes.

Petrie added an outstanding first half with six points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal, while Amiah Hargrove also pitched in six points, two rebounds and two assists in the half.

The Big Red erupted out of the locker room in the second half with Prince again scoring the first eight points of the quarter to spark a 16-0 Nebraska run in the first four minutes to build a 71-24 lead.

After ORU stopped the run with a free throw, Claire Johnson drained Nebraska's fourth three-pointer in five minutes to give the Huskers their biggest lead of the night at 74-24 with 5:18 to play in the third.

Johnson finished with eight points and a pair of threes, as did Callin Hake. Kennadi Williams, who completed a three-point play to cap NU's 16-0 third-quarter run, added seven points along with Logan Nissley off the bench.&nbsp;

Nebraska held ORU to 37.3 percent (22-59) shooting, but the Golden Eagles did connect on 7-of-20 threes (.350). ORU also hit 7-of-13 free throws (.538).

Jalei Oglesby led Oral Roberts with 14 points and five rebounds, while Anna Trusty added a second Golden Eagle in double figures with 13 points.

The Huskers will compete next in the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla. (Nov. 24-25). Nebraska opens the two-game tournament against Purdue Fort Wayne on Monday at 5 p.m. (CT) at Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State. Lincoln, Neb. — University of Nebraska track star Meghan Walker has officially signed a full-time developmental contract with WWE, moving from its NIL “Next In Line” program into the Performance Center/NXT system.&nbsp;

Walker, 21, had been part of WWE’s NIL cohort while competing as a Cornhusker sprinter. According to multiple reports, her new deal means she will now relocate to WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando to train full-time.&nbsp;

In college, Walker competes in the 200m and 400m events and has contributed to relay teams. Before <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/track-and-field/roster/season/2023-24/player/meghan-walker?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Nebraska</a>, she was a two-time state champion in high school track in Brandon, South Dakota.

Her path to WWE included a <a href="https://wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/university-nebraska-sprinter-meghan-walker-participated-wwe-tryouts-during-summerslam-week/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">tryout </a>during SummerSlam week, a key milestone that insiders say helped solidify her full-time contract. Walker’s signing is part of a broader talent push: she is one of <a href="https://www.ringsidenews.com/wwe-signs-three-new-full-time-nxt-talents/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">three new</a> developmental signees announced by WWE, joining Russian gymnast/pole dancer Jessica Bognadov and former Boise State running back Cyrus Habibi-Likio.&nbsp;

Nebraska improved to 4-0 with an 82-70 win over North Dakota State at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Sunday. Sophomore Amiah Hargrove scored a career-high 17 points to lead four Huskers in double figures against the Bison, who were the preseason pick to finish second in the Summit League in 2026. The 6-2 forward added a team-high seven rebounds while enjoying a perfect shooting night (7-7 FG, 1-1 3FG, 2-2 FT) in the victory. Hargrove is averaging 9.8 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds off the bench early this season for the unbeaten Big Red.

Nancy Lieberman Award candidate Britt Prince continued her strong play to open her sophomore season with 16 points and three assists against NDSU. Prince has scored at least 15 points in each of NU's first four games while averaging a team-best 19.0 points per contest. The 5-11 point guard out of Elkhorn North High School has added 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists on the year. She is also shooting a team-best 61.2 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point range.

Junior Jessica Petrie has joined Prince as the only Huskers to put up double figures in all four victories this season. The 6-2 power forward from Gold Coast, Australia produced 12 points, three rebounds and season highs of four assists and two blocks against the Bison. She erupted for a career-high 20 points in a win over Samford (Nov. 8), while scoring 11 points against both Northwestern State (Nov. 3) and Creighton (Nov. 12). Her effort in the win over the Bluejays included a 70-foot buzzer-beating three-pointer to end the first quarter that made ESPN SportsCenter's No. 3 Top Play. Through four games, Petrie is averaging 13.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Claire Johnson contributed 10 points off the bench for her third game in double figures as a Husker, including 21 points in a season-opening win over Northwestern State (Nov. 3) and 11 points in the win over Creighton (Nov. 12). The 5-9 guard is one of three Huskers averaging in double figures on the season (10.5 ppg).

While three Huskers - Britt Prince (19.0 ppg), Jessica Petrie (13.5 ppg) and Claire Johnson (10.5 ppg) - are averaging double figures, three more are averaging 9.0 or more points per contest, including Amiah Hargrove (9.8 ppg), Petra Bozan (9.5 ppg) and Callin Hake (9.0 ppg).

Nebraska has scored 80 or more points in each of its first four games this season and is averaging 87.3 points per contest. In Sunday's win over North Dakota State, 10 different Huskers hit the scoring column. It marked the first time since the first four games of 2015-16 that Nebraska has produced 80 or more points in four consecutive contests. The 2015-16 Huskers scored 88 or more in each of the first five games before losing 88-46 at No. 1 UConn in Hartford (Nov. 28, 2015).

• Oral Roberts comes to Lincoln with a 2-3 record following a Monday night home loss to Tulsa (78-69 OT). The Golden Eagles opened the season with home wins over Friends (97-65) and Haskell (92-50) before a 112-62 loss at No. 22 Oklahoma State. ORU also suffered a 76-65 setback at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo., before facing the Golden Hurricane.

• Cophie Anderson is in her first season officially as ORU's head coach, but she served as the acting head coach for three seasons. She helped the Golden Eagles to the postseason three straight years, including the 2023 WNIT and the 2024 and 2025 WBIT. In 2024-25, Oral Roberts finished with a 24-9 record that included a 12-4 Summit League mark. ORU fell to No. 25 South Dakota State, 84-68, in the Summit League title game before suffering a WNIT loss at Missouri State.

• ORU is replacing all five starters from last year's team, including four who averaged double figures. First-team All-Summit Taleyah Jones (18.1 ppg), Ruthie Udoumoh (12.1 ppg), Makyra Tramble (10.6 ppg) and Emily Robinson (10.0 ppg) are all gone, along with fellow starter Meghan Weinrich (6.1 ppg).

• Udoumah, ORU's top rebounder (8.2 rpg), Tramble, who led the Summit League in assist-to-turnover ratio and steals per game while leading the Golden Eagles with 64 threes, and Weinrich completed their eligibility. Jones and Robinson, who combined for 107 threes, both transferred to Arkansas to play for former ORU head coach Kelsi Musick.

• Redshirt senior Jalei Oglesby and sophomore Anna Trusty have been reliable threats for ORU early this season. Oglesby, a 5-8 guard from Howe, Okla., scored at least 18 points in each of the first four games, including 24 in the loss at Oklahoma State. However, she was limited to four points on 2-of-12 shooting against Tulsa. Oglesby is averaging 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free throw line. She has not hit a three-pointer and was just 1-for-7 last season. Oglesby was first-team All-Summit League and won her second straight Summit League Sixth Woman of the Year award in 2025.

• Trusty, a 6-0 guard from Greenwood, Ark., also put up double figures in the first four games, including 14 points against both Oklahoma State and Lindenwood, before being held to eight by Tulsa. She has hit just 2-of-10 three-pointers. She was the MIAA Freshman of the Year at Arkansas-Fort Smith in 2024-25 after being named the Gatorade Arkansas High School Player of the Year in 2023-24.

• Ogelsby and Trusty both fouled out in the overtime loss to Tulsa, as did fellow starters Gentry Baldwin and A'Maya Holton while ORU's fifth starter, Kayten Donley, committed four fouls in a game with 65 total fouls. ORU was whistled for 37 fouls.

• Holton, a true freshman, has started all five games and ranks third on the team in scoring (10.6 ppg) while leading ORU in rebounding (5.6 rpg). The 6-0 forward from San Antonio opener her career with 26 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Friends, but totaled just two points combined in losses to Lindenwood and OSU. She bounced back with 14 points against Tulsa.

• Donley (7.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg), a 6-0 freshman forward from Bethany, Okla., and Baldwin (8.6 ppg) from Bixby, Okla., have rounded out the starting five for all five games. Donley produced double figures with 10 points and five assists against Tulsa, while Baldwin erupted for 21 points, including 3-of-7 threes, against the Golden Hurricane. Baldwin had produced just 22 total points through the first four games. Baldwin has hit a team-best 7-of-20 (.350) threes.

• As a team, ORU is shooting 43.1 percent but just 24.4 percent (20-82) from three-point range. The Golden Eagles have hit 70.9 percent of their free throws. ORU carries a minus-5.0 team turnover margin and a minus-2.8 rebound margin, including an 11-board deficit in the loss to Tulsa.

• Nebraska leads the all-time series with Oral Roberts 8-0, including a 90-61 win over the Golden Eagles in the most recent meeting on Dec. 4, 2020 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. All eight games in series history have been played in Lincoln.

• ORU battled Nebraska until late in the fourth quarter in a 77-67 loss to the Huskers on Dec. 14, 2019 - the closest game in the series.

• In the first meeting at PBA in Nebraska's opening year in the arena, the No. 18 Huskers rolled to an 89-53 win on Dec. 29, 2013. It is the only meeting either team has been ranked at game time.

• The previous year in the final meeting between the two teams in the Devaney Center, Nebraska battled to an 80-67 victory on Dec. 20, 2012.

• The first-ever meeting between the teams came with a 100-87 Nebraska victory at the Devaney Center on Nov. 27, 1987. Every other game between the teams has been played in December, prior to Wednesday's matchup.

• The Huskers put up 100 points again on ORU with a 110-61 win in the second meeting (Dec. 5, 1989), before a 95-62 win over the Golden Eagles (Dec. 31, 1990). The teams did not meet again until a 70-51 Husker win on Dec. 2, 2008.

• Nebraska is allowing opponents just 53.0 points per game through four contests, despite surrendering 70 points in a win over North Dakota State (Nov. 16).

• Through four games, Nebraska is forcing 24.0 turnovers per game while committing just 14.5 for a plus-9.5 turnover margin.

• The Huskers forced 25 Creighton turnovers - the most by the Jays since committing 26 turnovers against Minnesota, Dec. 30, 2012.

• The Huskers have forced at least 20 turnovers in each of their first four games against Northwestern State (24), Samford (27), Creighton (25) and North Dakota State (20). The last time NU forced 20-plus turnovers in four straight games came in 2011-12 when they produced seven straight 20-turnover games from Nov. 27 to Dec. 21, 2011 - at Florida State (21), at Georgia Tech (26), Texas-Pan American (22), Creighton (21), at Northern Arizona (23), Vermont (22) and South Dakota State (20).

• Nebraska notched 17 steals in the win over Samford (Nov. 8) - the most by a Husker team since getting 19 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Jan. 2, 2008.

• Eliza Maupin (100) played in her 100th collegiate game on Sunday against North Dakota State. Maupin played 98 games in three seasons at Kansas State.

• Jessica Petrie (397) needs three points to reach 400 in her college career.

• Amiah Hargrove (195) needs five points to reach 200 in her college career.

• Callin Hake (593) needs seven points to reach 600 in her college career.

• Britt Prince (479) needs 21 points to reach 500 in her college career.

Prince Named to Nancy Lieberman Watch List

• Nebraska's Britt Prince was named to the list of 20 women's college basketball players on the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Preseason Watch List on Oct. 27. The Lieberman Award was the first of the Naismith Starting 5 award watch lists announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

• Prince followed with a season-high 23 points, two assists and two steals in a win over Samford (Nov. 8), before getting 18 points and a season-high seven rebounds in a win over Creighton (Nov. 12).

• She added 16 points, two rebounds and three assists in a win over North Dakota State in Sioux Falls, S.D. (Nov. 16).

• In an exhibition win over Mount Marty (Oct. 24), Prince had a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists to go along with five rebounds.

• Prince, a two-time Gatorade and MaxPreps Nebraska High School Player of the Year at Elkhorn North, earned Big Ten All-Freshman honors while leading the Huskers to the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

• In the NCAA Tournament, Prince led the Big Red with 14 points and six assists against Louisville, after powering Nebraska to two wins at the Big Ten Tournament by averaging 17.0 points and 5.3 assists over three games, including a career-high-tying 24 points against Big Ten Tournament champion and NCAA No. 1 seed UCLA.

• Prince was the USBWA National Freshman of the Week (Jan. 21) after going for 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals in a road win at Iowa (Jan. 16), when she hit a career-high five three-pointers.

She was the 2023-24 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the fifth game of the 2024-25 campaign. Potts was averaging team bests of 17.5 points and 8.0 rebounds through the first four games prior to her injury. She was shooting 69.4 percent from the field, including 72.7 percent (8-11) from three-point range to lead the Big Red to a No. 19 national ranking and a 4-0 start.

• In 40-minute production, Potts put up eye-popping numbers of 28.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per 40 to rank among the best players in the Big Ten through the first four games last season.

• In 2023-24, Potts led all Big Ten freshmen in rebounding (5.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (.489), while ranking second among league freshmen in scoring (10.2 ppg) and free throw percentage (.829) in 2023-24. She started all 35 games for the 23-12 Huskers, who advanced to the Big Ten Championship Game and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

• Potts, who won 8-of-15 Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Week awards during the regular season, was the most consistent freshman in the conference from start to finish. She won the inaugural weekly honor on Nov. 13, 2023, before claiming the final two freshman awards on Feb. 26 and March 4. She won at least one weekly honor during all five months of the season. Her eight weekly awards matched the total of fellow Nebraska Big Ten Freshman of the Year Alexis Markowski in 2022.

• Potts, who also claimed an honorable-mention All-Big Ten award from the conference media, was a unanimous choice on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team by the conference coaches.

• After sustaining her knee injury against North Alabama (Nov. 19, 2024), Potts underwent knee surgery (Dec. 4). She continues to rehab with hopes of returning to the court mid-season.

Huskers Sign Three Top 100 High School Recruits

• Nebraska signed a trio of top-100 high school seniors from the Midwest on the opening day of the national signing period on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

• Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Girls National High School Player of the Year candidate Ashlyn Koupal (South Dakota), Ava Miles (Missouri) and Maddi Stewart (Oklahoma) plan to join Nebraska Head Coach Amy Williams and the Huskers as true freshmen for the 2026-27 campaign.

• "We are thrilled that these three talented, hard-working, driven young women have chosen to join our Husker family," Williams said. "Ashlyn, Ava and Maddi each bring the skills, intelligence, character and work ethic to thrive as Huskers and will be instrumental in helping us continue to raise the bar in our program."

This was UNK's first trip to Sioux Falls in a decade.</p><p>UNK fell behind at the half by a 32-19 score as they were shooting just 21% (6 of 29) from the field. Polish senior Malgorzata Byczkowska hit two threes to lead with USF getting 12 points from sophomore guard Alexis Rose. The Blue &amp; Gold came out of the locker room ready to go as they dominated the third quarter by a 16-9 margin. Diller freshman Myleigh Weers had eight points with the Lopers having a 15-4 edge on the glass.</p><p>Having 51 points over the first two games, including 33 in a loss to Fort Hays State, Vaaler got hot in the fourth (11 points) as the Cougs opened a 50-43 lead with just 5:10 left. That's when UNK countered with an 8-0 spurt that featured triples from Byczkowska and Kansas junior Jordan Sears. The 51-50 advantage was the Lopers second of the night.</p><p>However, Sioux Falls scored the game's final 12 points thanks to a Vaaler three, jumper and two freebies, a Rose bucket and two freebies and a two-pointer by junior guard Ayla Brown. Meanwhile, UNK missed its last nine shots and committed a turnover.</p><p>"We'll have to go back and evaluate the last five minutes of offense for us. Didn't score it well enough in the last couple of minutes and gotta figure out ways to finish that one," said UNK head coach Drew Johnson on the KRVN Radio post-game show. "I loved out fight; I thought we fought really hard."</p><p>Sioux Falls overcame 25 turnovers by limiting UNK to 30% (19 of 64; 7 of 32 threes) shooting. The Cougs were plus three on the glass, went 12 of 14 at the line and got a combined 41 points from Vaaler and Rose. They were 15 of 28 from the floor, 9 of 10 at the line and grabbed 14 rebounds.</p><p>"We flew around a little bit (on defense), got some traps there late which ended in some steals," said Johnson. "But 25 turnovers by us is too many as well. Just kind of trying to figure that all that out."</p><p>Lincoln redshirt senior point guard Jillian Aschoff paced the Loper cause (12 points, seven rebounds, five assists) with Byczkowska at nine points and five boards off the bench. Next, Weers had eight with South Dakota redshirt junior post Bailee Sobczak seeing her first action of the season and having four points and two o-boards in seven minutes. However, she left the court due to injury and didn't return.</p><p>UNK heads to Augustana (0-2) on Thursday night. That game tips at 5 and can be head on KAMI Country 100.1, 92.7 FM/1580 AM. </p>
