
FRONTIER COUNTY, Neb. — Two people died and a third person was injured following a head-on crash Wednesday night on Highway 83 in Frontier County.
According to the Frontier County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at 9:51 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, to a two-vehicle collision near mile marker 30 on Highway 83.
Preliminary findings indicate a southbound Plymouth sedan driven by Thomas Arden of Herndon, Kansas, crossed the center line and struck a northbound Honda sedan driven by Leroy Gray of North Platte head-on.
Arden and Gray were pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Honda was transported by McCook Fire and EMS to Community Hospital in McCook for treatment of injuries. Authorities said occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Frontier County Sheriff's Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
Highway 83 was closed to traffic at approximately 10 p.m. and reopened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
Assisting agencies included Nebraska State Patrol Troop D, the Red Willow County Sheriff's Office, Maywood-Wellfleet Fire, Curtis Fire, McCook Fire and EMS, the Red Willow Western Fire Department, and Frontier County Ambulance.
The Frontier County Sheriff's Office said additional questions regarding the crash should be directed to the sheriff's office.
