-- Locked in a scoreless battle entering the 89th minute, Creighton sophomore Sarah Hyde delivered the game-winning goal with 95 seconds left (88:25) to lift the Bluejays to a 1-0 win over Northern Colorado on Friday, September 4. The victory is the third consecutive 1-0 win for the Jays, pushing their record to 3-2-1, while the Bears fell to 1-2-2.
The game-winning goal saw Hyde receive a series of passes from Kassey Dzenis and Olivia Duray ten yards beyond midfield. Hyde beat a Northern Colorado defender to set up a 1-on-1 chance against Northern Colorado keeper Thordoris Melstad. Hyde blasted a shot from 20 yards out to give Creighton the lead.
The third clean sheet for Creighton pushed its streak to 407:24 minutes without conceding a goal. That is the Bluejays' fifth longest scoreless streak, just 23 minutes behind the fourth longest streak occurring in 1994. The longest streak is 612:15, spanning the close of the 2008 season and the start of the 2009 campaign.
The victory pushed Creighton to 7-1-3 in matches played during the annual Socctoberfest celebration. The total attendance for the combined two matches with the Bluejay women's and men's contests was 3,521, the fourth-largest crowd in program history.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Sunday, September 13 as Creighton hosts Gonzaga for senior day at 1:00 pm in Morrison Stadium.
