The Connection Homeless Shelter announces next big project, building an affordable, quality, supportive housing development

The Connection has applied for funding through the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority’s Low Income Housing Tax Credit CRANE project to build an affordable, quality, supportive housing development. This development is planned to be approximately forty (40) units made up of one- and two-bedroom one-bath apartments, and three-bedroom two-bath apartments, all renting at or below fair market rate and will offer services and amenities designed to improve the quality of life of tenants and help them improve their overall self-sufficiency and sustainability.

We are working with an incredible developer and an architect who have completed many of these projects and who work hard to ensure that their affordable properties invoke a sense of pride not only in their tenants but the communities in which they are placed.

We plan to provide case management services, a community garden, playground, laundry facilities, a community building, and really there is so much potential for truly beneficial services in a project like this that I cannot wait to get started on building and growing the amazing partnerships that will make those services possible.

The development will serve low- and moderate-income households along with those that are needing other accommodations.

Our current timeline includes groundbreaking in the fall of 2024, and we look forward to providing an additional service in our community that will certainly benefit us all.
