Karen Ann (Pincheon) Sizer, age 80, of Arthur, Nebraska died Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Nebraska.

Karen was born December 9, 1942, at Ft. Edward, N.Y. to Frank A. and Doris L. (Ingram) Pincheon. She spent her childhood in Hudson Falls, N.Y. In 1955 the family moved to Ogallala, Nebraska where Karen started junior high. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1961 and then attended Kearney State College for one year where she met her future husband.

Karen married David Sizer on August 22, 1964, in Ogallala, Nebraska. They resided in Kearney, Nebraska for a year. The couple moved to Hershey, Nebraska in 1965, then to St. Paul, Nebraska in 1966 where their first two children were born. In 1969 they moved to Tyndall, S.D. where their youngest son was born. Karen and David moved to Arthur, Nebraska in 1972.

Karen loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers and Sunday and holiday dinners. She was an excellent baker and known for her pies. She also decorated many cakes for family special occasions. Karen also enjoyed sewing, and making clothes and costumes for her family and friends. She sewed doll clothes, comforters, and other items to give as gifts. Karen enjoyed crafts, knitting, gardening, canning, bookkeeping and reading.

Karen worked for the Arthur County Co-op Association, and later, the Bank of Keystone, for many years. She owned and operated a ceramic shop in Arthur for a few years. She also served as clerk for the Village of Arthur. In 1988 she started working for The Arthur Enterprise, eventually becoming the owner and publisher.

Karen was an active member of the Arthur Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, served as Sunday school superintendent, helped with Awana and youth group, sang in the choir for cantatas and specials, and helped wherever she could. Karen was a member and officer of the Arthur Project Club, helped with 4-H, was a Cub Scout leader, served on the Arthur County School Reunion committee, helped with the Arthur County Diamond Jubilee history book, and was a member of the Pack Backers Booster Club, receiving the Pack Backer of the Year award twice.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dean Wilson; and brothers-in-law Wilbert Sizer, Harold Sizer, and Jim Sizer.

Karen is survived by her husband, David of Arthur, NE; daughter Michelle and husband Bill Simpson of Arthur, NE; sons Steven and wife Patty Sizer of Bellevue, NE, and Timothy and wife Kim of Arthur, NE; grandchildren Asa, Aiden, Drew, Amos, and Aly Sizer, and Nathaniel and Kaela Sizer; brother Ron and wife Linda Pincheon of Gladwin, Michigan; sister Linda and husband Dan Crouse of Hyannis, NE; sisters-in-law Virginia Sizer of Ogallala, NE, Susan and husband Doug Wilson of Arthur, NE, Kathy and husband Henry Vedder of Ogallala, NE, Marjorie and husband Dale Leistritz of North Platte, NE, brother-in-law John and wife Linda Sizer of Lemoyne, NE; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be Monday, September 4, 2023, at 2 p.m. MDT at the Arthur Baptist Church with Rev. Blake Wilkes officiating. The service will be live-streamed at www.drauckerfh.com by clicking the “watch live” button. Inurnment will be in the Arthur Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Arthur Baptist Church or donor’s choice.
