OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton women’s soccer team saw its four-match unbeaten streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to Gonzaga on Sunday, Sept. 13 as the Bluejays honored their six seniors prior to the match.
The Loss dropped the Bluejays to 3-3-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 3-4-1 overall.
Gonzaga pulled ahead in the 23rd minutes as Samantha Snorsky intercepted a pass from Macy Felton in the attacking third, before striking a laser just passed the outstretch diving reach of the Bluejay goalkeeper Morgan Paley to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Gonzaga’s first goal snapped the Bluejays scoreless streak at 429:24 minutes, the Jays fifth longest scoreless streak in program history.
Carrying a 1-0 advantage through the break, Gonzaga quickly extended its lead in the 52nd minutes as Shila Rasoul headed home a cross at the back post from Olivia Lester for her first goal of the season.
The Bulldogs would connect once again in the 84th minute when Brooke Metcalfe spun a shot through the arms of Creighton’s Kailey Hall to cap off the 3-0 victory for the Bulldogs.
Creighton was out shot in the match as the Bulldogs held an 11-7 advantage. Gonzaga also held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Bluejays return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. when they travel across town to battle Omaha in the annual Kicks For a Cure contest at Caniglia Field.
