Lorraine Rosane, 96, formerly of North Platte, died peacefully in Longmont, Colorado, at her daughter’s home on Dec. 9, 2023. She was born on Aug. 22, 1927, in Petersburg, Nebraska, to William and Julia Julich Leifeld and she married Raymond Rosane on April 6, 1948.
Lorraine worked for ten years in the dietary department at Great Plains Regional Medical Center preparing salads and desserts, but her specialty was baking pies. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 25 years and faithfully attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Evelyn; four sisters; two brothers; and her parents.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Robert (Christy) Rosane and Richard (Chris) Rosane of North Platte, Gladys Morrow of Longmont and Elaine (Mike Holt) Rosane of Alma; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Dolly (Feller) Baker of Neligh.
Lorraine was known for her infectious smile and a fondness for all things pink and sparkly. She bragged about her perfect attendance during her 12 years at St. John’s School in Petersburg. She loved country western music, dancing, Wheel of Fortune, sharing stories from her time in San Francisco, and most importantly, prayer. She will forever be remembered for her tasty homemade pelmenis, a family favorite!
On her final day, Lorraine was surrounded by love, with over 50 people sharing their affection, prayers, stories and a heartfelt song from across the country. She left this world knowing she was loved as she crossed over to heaven. Whenever you wear pink or hear a Johnny Cash song, think of Lorraine and smile.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your local Meals on Wheels.
