MPCC hosts Native American dancer/storyteller

Garan Coons demonstrates the men’s fancy dance during a performance Thursday afternoon in North Platte. Coons is Oglala Lakota and Navajo. He is also a dancer, singer, flute player and storyteller and the founder of the Native American Many Moccasins Dance Troupe.

Coons, his children and his mother were hosted by Mid-Plains Community College. They also performed earlier in the day in McCook in honor of Native American Heritage Month.
