Series History: Creighton leads Omaha, 10-4-2
The Bluejays and Mavericks will meet for the 17th time on Tuesday, Creighton leads the overall series 10-4-2 and holds a slim 4-3-0 edge at Marquette. The Bluejays have won the last four of the last five meetings, with a draw in 2023. Since Omaha rose to the D1 level, Creighton leads the series 6-1-2. The Jays posted a 3-2 win last season in Morrison Stadium and won 2-1 in 2024 at Caniglia Field.
Scouting Omaha (4-2-3, 0-0-1 Summit)
Omaha has gone 1-1-1 over its last three matches, dropping a contest with Saint May’s and earning a draw with Delaware at home. The Mavericks’ win came at Western Illinois on September 17.
Omaha is 3-1-2 at home this season, with three common opponents as Creighton in Saint Mary’s, Yale and FIU. Creighton went 2-0-1 against the trio, while the Mavericks went 1-1-1.
Brett Perkins and Mikey Stukenholtz lead the Omaha offense with four and three goals respectively. A total of 15 Mavericks have at least one point during the season, including 11 different goal scorers.
In net the Mavericks have relied on Kamy Ndione exclusively. He has allowed 10 goals in nine matches for a 1.11 GAA.
Scouting #7 Creighton (9-0-2, 2-0-0 BIG EAST)
Winning consecutive road matches last week, the Bluejays showed grit and resilience with a 1-0 win at Denver on Tuesday and a 3-2 win at Marquette on Saturday.
Senior Matthew Reed delivered his eighth goal of the season in Milwaukee to move into a tie for second in the NCAA with Marquette’s Tomiwa Adewumi. Four other Bluejays sit in the top 60 of the NCAA as Angel Lopez is 15th with six goals, Ayden Kokoszka ranks 34th with five goals and Jordan Igwenma as well as Carter Tavares are tied for 58th with four goals.
Offensively the Bluejays remain atop the NCAA in goals (35), assists (41) and points (111).
Matthew Hudson was in net for the third consecutive match, moving to 5-0-1 with the win over Marquette. He has a pair of shutouts this season, allowing five goals in six contests for a 0.88 GAA.
Kicks for A Cure in the Fall - Part Deux
An annual event to raise funds and awareness for local cancer research, Creighton and Omaha Soccer programs have participated in Kicks for a Cure contests since 2004. This season the event was moved to the fall competition season for the first time last season
Kicks for a Cure has been an annual event since 2004, and going into its 20th year, has raised $5,400,000 in cancer research. All funds go to the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Lynch Cancer Research Center at Creighton University in Omaha.
Teams participating in Kicks for a Cure have included Division I soccer teams UNO, Nebraska, Marquette, Notre Dame, Yale, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa State, Virginia, Saint Louis, Denver, Drake and host Creighton, as well as Division II teams Rockhurst, South Dakota and Truman State. Over the years that event expanded to include local high school teams as well.
First envisioned in 2004 by Steve and Amy Lindsay as well as Dave Karnes, Kicks for a Cure was launched in April 2006. The primary purpose of KFAC is to raise awareness for cancer education and prevention. It is also to encourage healthy and active lifestyles, which started from the founders love for soccer. Funds are raised through sponsorships, donations, and sale of fundraiser tickets.
Grants from funds raised are awarded each year by Kicks for a Cure, Inc., to support cancer research initiatives at two local, world-renowned facilities, the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Lynch Cancer Research Center at Creighton University.
The research primarily targets hereditary cancer, but is more global in its impact. Additionally, the Liz Karnes Memorial Scholarship for Creighton and UNO Women’s Soccer has been awarded annually and is now an endowed scholarship.
Bluejay Opponents - ‘Wake Me When September Ends’
Entering the match at Omaha with a 9-0-2 mark in 2026, Creighton went 5-0-1 during the month of September in 2025 and is 6-0-1 in the month during this year. The last time Creighton dropped a match in September was 9-20-24 to Georgetown, 1-0.
Creighton Flock Scoring From All Sides
After 11 matches the Bluejays have 35 goals, coming from 11 different players. While Matthew Reed leads the way with eight goals, five other Bluejays have three goals or more. A total of six Bluejays have at least 10 points, while 18 Jays have contributed at least one point this season.
Bluejays Looking for to Continue Undefeated Streak
For the fourth time in school history, Creighton Men’s Soccer has opened the season undefeated through at least 11 matches. The last time the Bluejays opened a season in such fashion was 2015. That season Creighton got off to a 15-0-0 start. The other two times Creighton started undefeated through 10 games were in 1993 and 1990
