AMES, Iowa - The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams will begin their 2026 season at the Cyclone Preview on Friday, Sept. 4.

The women’s 5K race is set for 8:30 a.m. (CT), with the men’s 6K to follow at 9:00 a.m. (CT). Live stats can be found here.

Recapping 2025

Nebraska Cross Country finished the 2025 season at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Stillwater, Okla., on Nov. 14. Ali Bainbridge, who was named Second Team All-Big ten, finished first among the Husker women in 26th, while Dennis Chapman led the way for the NU men in 64th.

As a team, the Nebraska women placed eighth at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, with Bainbridge and Berlyn Schutz taking home Second Team All-Conference honors.

The NU men finished 15th at the conference meet.

Runners to Watch

Nebraska sophomore Rico Leijenaar was named to the Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Runners to Watch list. Leijenaar heads into his third year as a Husker following a notable finish in the men’s 8K last year at Pre-nationals.

Ali Bainbridge begins her senior campaign as a Big Ten Women’s Cross Country Runner to Watch headed into the 2026 season. Bainbridge has represented NU at the last three Midwest Regionals and earned the chance to compete at NCAA Championships her sophomore year.
