LINCOLN — Jared Crick, the former Nebraska defensive line star who played five seasons in the NFL, has taken the Cozad High School head football coach job.
"I am proud and humbled to be announced as the Head Football Coach of my alma mater, to which I owe a great deal of credit and appreciation to the many that have come before me," Crick said in a statement. "Great people, who've shaped my life, resulting in the responsibility I now have before me as the leader of this program."
The 35-year-old was a two-time All-Big 12 defensive tackle at Nebraska and played on NU's first Big Ten team in 2011, donning a Sports Illustrated cover before that season. The Houston Texans selected him in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He had 199 career tackles in five seasons, injured his back in 2017 training camp, and did not play again.
