On Monday, July 22, 2024, Lloyd Eugene Marquardt, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in Holyoke, CO, at the age of 91.
Lloyd grew up in Hastings, NE, graduating from Hastings High School in 1950. After graduating, he found himself working at the Carter Hotel, where he met his wife of 71 years. Lloyd joined the Air Force on May 7, 1952. While on leave, November 1, 1952, he married the love of his life, Joan Joyce Houck, at her parents' home in Hastings, NE. After four years of service, he was discharged on May 6, 1956. From May 7, 1956, to May 6, 1960, he was a part of the Air Force Reserves.
Lloyd was a member of the Venango Community Church, Rocky Mountain Society of Aviculture, and Elks Lodge (in Ft. Collins).
During his lifetime, Lloyd called three locations home: Hastings, NE, where he grew up as a kid; Wellington, CO, where he raised his kids and lived for 44 years; and Venango, NE, where he retired and lived for 22 years.
Passing before Lloyd were his parents, James "Frank" Marquardt and Myrtle Goldie (Smith) Marquardt, five sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Marquardt; his children Cindy Summers, Gloria Zamparelli, James and Debbie Marquardt, and Dennis Marquardt; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was also honored to be the foster parent to 4 teenagers, John, Gary, Becky Summers, and David Clarke.
A memorial has been established in Lloyds's memory for later designation.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Community Church of Venango, with Pastor Nathan Bice officiating. Interment will be in the Venango Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Church on Monday, from 11 pm until 1 pm.
