The Ogallala Indian Summer Rendezvous has been named the 2026 Event of the Year by the Nebraska Chambers Association, recognizing a community tradition that has brought people together in Keith County for more than four decades.
The award was presented October 15 during the association’s fall conference. Keith County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director and Rendezvous Committee Chair Shawn Rubek accepted the award on behalf of the many people who helped organize and support the 42nd annual event.
Rubek was joined by Chamber Membership Director Dawn Haney, Chamber Board Member and Rendezvous Committee member Kerri Schroeder, and Chamber Board Member Brandon Lichti.
The annual Rendezvous took place September 17-19 in downtown Ogallala, featuring live music, food, shopping, historical activities and family entertainment. Events included the Rendezvous Parade, car show, Harvest Arts Market, Quilt Appreciation Show, chili cook-off and a Husker football watch party.

Organizers credited the event’s success to the work of volunteers, sponsors, vendors, entertainers and community partners who help bring the celebration to life each year.
The chamber also recognized the Western Trails Creative District for its support in bringing the Rising Buffalo Dance Group to the event for educational and public performances, which organizers described as a highlight of this year’s Rendezvous.
The Nebraska Chambers Association’s Event/Program of the Year award recognizes events that make a significant impact in their communities by bringing businesses and residents together, encouraging community engagement and contributing to local vitality.
For Ogallala, the recognition highlights the continued community support behind a festival that has grown into a longstanding part of the area’s fall calendar.
