Marjorie “Marje” A. Riley, 93, of North Platte, NE passed away on May 1, 2024 at Linden Court. She was born to Bernice (Lincoln) and Cline Vernon Eyestone on November 2, 1930 at Elbing, KS.
She grew up in Wichita, KS and went to Wichita High School where she graduated as valedictorian. Marje graduated from Colorado Women’s College and then went to CSU where she met her future husband, William Riley. They were married August 2, 1951 in Mitchell, NE. William served in the military and the couple ended up in Baltimore, MD. After the military they went to Limon, CO where they were on the family ranch. They moved to North Platte, NE in 1963 where they opened E & R Automotive Supply. Marje worked for Town and Country Realtors for many years as a broker. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking and entertaining.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: Cody (Carrie) Riley of Loveland, CO, Bret Riley of North Platte, NE and Lindee (J.P.) Doyle of North Platte, NE; grandchildren, Tyler Riley of Lake McConaughy, NE, Travis (Patience) Riley of North Platte, NE, Austin (Hannah) Doyle of Hickman, Carolina Riley of Loveland, CO; great grandchildren, Oliver, Radley, Bexley and Banks; sister in laws, Kay Eyestone and Sunika Bergland both of North Platte, NE and many other family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Frand Eyestone; and sister, Rosalee Ashenfelter.
Graveside services will be held at a later date Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the North Platte Catholic School Endowment.
