Nebraska Department of Revenue
(LINCOLN, NEB.) — The Property Assessment Division announces that pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. § 77-421(2), due to a vacant county assessor office, a county assessor certification examination (examination) will be held at a time different from February, May, August, and November examinations. This examination will be given on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. The examination is held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (CST) with a one-hour break for lunch. Examinations can be held in either Lincoln or North Platte as noted below.
Any interested applicants are to complete an application and submit it with payment to the Department of Revenue prior to taking the examination.

Certification and eligibility to hold office as a county assessor or deputy county assessor requires successful completion of this examination. Nebraska law prohibits an individual from filing for, or being appointed to, the office of county assessor or serving as deputy county assessor without a valid Nebraska Assessor Certificate. In addition, this certificate is required to be eligible to file for, or assume the office of, county clerk acting as an ex-officio county assessor.
