Dorothy Irene Blomstedt peacefully passed away on October 8, 2023, at the age of 90, at her son's home in Hershey surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on the Birdwood Table, northwest of Hershey, to Edward and Coral (Refior) Godfrey on May 22, 1933. She grew up and attended school in North Platte and then got married.
On May 22, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Edward Blomstedt at Julesburg, CO. They lived south of Tryon for three years, south of Dickens for 26 years, then moved south of North Platte in 1978. After Edward died in 1999, Dorothy bought a house in North Platte then sold it a few years later and moved into Autumn Park.
Dorothy was a ranch wife and raised four sons. She was on the Lakeview School Board, near Dickens, for many years, worked at the Thrift Center from 1988-2021, and worked at a day care in North Platte.
Dorothy was devoted to her family and her Savior. She loved crafts, flowers, puppies, kittens and beautiful things and was a member of Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene. Dorothy had a special place in her heart for service to others.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Earl Grover; and sister-in-law, "Marty" Godfrey.
Dorothy is survived by her sons and their wives, John, Jr. and Pauline Blomstedt of Hershey, James and Sue Blomstedt of Wellfleet, Jerrod and Nancy Blomstedt of North Platte and Jack and Michelle Blomstedt of Lincoln; her brother, Delbert Godfrey of St. George, UT; her special friend, Cheryl Kurth of North Platte; as well as 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and many other family.
Services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, at Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery at Hershey. Visitation is prior to services at the church.
