Zona D Collier age 98, formerly of Lake McConaughy passed away March 13, 2024, in Broken Bow, NE.
Memorial Services will be Friday, March 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, NE. Reception following at the Country Club in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to The Village of Dunning. A register book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Zona was born July 23, 1925, in Verdigre, NE to Ralph and Alta (Dunbar) Moyer. Zona grew up in the Ainsworth and Dunning area, graduating from Dunning High School with the class of 1943.
Zona was united in marriage April 19, 1944, to Wayne Collier, and moved to the ranch south of Dunning where Steve, Wally, and Ginger were born.
In 1985, Wayne and Zona retired and moved to Lake McConaughy. Wayne passed away in March of 1989, and Zona continued to live at the Lake until October 2023, when she moved to Off Broadway in Broken Bow.
Zona loved hearing about the grandkids’ activities and what they were doing. Zona enjoyed life with all her Lake Friends. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, embroidery, and working in her yard.
Zona is survived by son Wally (Becky) Collier of Dunning, daughter Ginger Christiansen of Denver, CO, grandson Travis (Ann) Collier of Dunning, granddaughters Michelle (Paul) Sterkel of Rapid City, SD, Kelly Christiansen of Denver, CO, Tammy (Dave) Lawrence of Denver, CO, and Tonia Christiansen of Arizona, twelve great-grandchildren Colby, Carlie, Marcelo, Alaina, Elijah, Narayan, LaNeceys, Amari, Jack, Molly, Annie, and Alex, on great great-grandchild Ali, sister Lucy Smith of VA, and many other nieces and nephews.
Zona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, son Steven, sister Lonnie, brother Charles (Mary Lou) Moyer, brothers-in-law Sylvan (Javene) Collier, Kerm (Mamie) Collier, and Lawrence (Irene) Collier.
