Hershey Public Schools
Hershey Public Schools has completed Phases 2 & 3a of the renovation project which began in the fall of 2022. The overarching goals of phase 2 & 3 were to renovate the 1959 building and to increase instructional space in all elementary classrooms. This included converting the 1959 gym into a K-12 Library/Media Center and collaboration space, special education, and Guidance classrooms.
A secure entrance into the building was also constructed in Phase 2 of the renovation project. This entrance was constructed at the South Bus Doors of the 1959 portion of the building. This entrance is utilized during business hours and all individuals are required to enter here to meet with a receptionist before entering the building during normal business hours.
Hershey will be hosting an Open House for all stakeholders to come and see the updates to the facilities. The open house will be held in conjunction with the annual PK-6 Open House on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. We are excited to announce that Hershey State Bank & Hershey Agency will once again sponsor the event. The event will include a short presentation by Dr. McConnell (in the east gym), Group led tour (throughout the elementary classrooms), and a meal (South parking lot) presented by Hershey State Bank and Hershey Agency! The public is invited to attend either tour and are welcome to participate in all events! Parents and students are encouraged to choose a session that fits your child's grade level!
**Please park in the south gravel lot OR west crushed rock lot. The south concrete lot will be closed for the refreshments to be provided by Hershey State Bank.. Each session will start in the East Gym! Enter through the South HS Commons Door.
The set up for this year’s Open House will include 2 sessions: 4:30-5:30 PM & 5:30-6:30 PM. Each session will follow the same setup, starting with a short presentation in the (#1)east gym, followed by a teacher/principal led group tour (#2), finishing the evening with a meal (#3) sponsored by Hershey State Bank and Hershey Agency.
If possible, we encourage PK-2 parents to attend Session I with 3-6 parents attending the second session. Our goal is to have equal sized groups.

Remodeling is still underway in the 1959 North restrooms and four of the 1959 high school classrooms under Phase 3b. Phase 3b is anticipated to be completed at the beginning of second semester. Phase 4 of the renovation will occur in the spring and summer of 24. Phase 1, the new addition is scheduled to be completed during the second semester of this school year.
The entire project is roughly 55,000 square feet in renovation and 30,000 square feet in new construction. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire suppression have been included in the project along with other site improvements.
