OGALLALA, Neb. — The Ogallala City Council will meet Tuesday evening to address a range of issues, including a possible lift of ban on fireworks and the potential creation of a new historic district on the Ogallala High School campus.

The regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Council members will hear department and board updates, including an update from PeopleService Inc. during the public forum. A report from the city clerk-treasurer is also on the agenda.

Among key action items, the council will consider a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission to designate the Ogallala High School campus as a historic landmark district under Ordinance 1443. The commission is also set to present a declared nuisance property for abatement.

An engineering services agreement with M.C. Schaff & Associates for street improvements on West 2nd Street—from West A to Spruce Streets—and East 2nd Street—from East C to East D Streets—will also be reviewed.

City Manager Kevin Wilkins is expected to provide project updates, and the city attorney will present a regular report.

Council member updates will cover various community organizations, including the Ogallala Community Hospital and Health Foundation, Keep Keith County Beautiful, the YMCA, and the Keith County Area Development, among others.

The meeting agenda also includes approval of claims and minutes from the June 10 meeting.

The public is welcome to attend.
