Carolyn Harmonson-Ross passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Linden Court in North Platte, Nebraska.
Carolyn was born on July 30, 1942, in Oshkosh to Ralph and Irene Harmonson. In 1949 her family relocated to Ogallala where she attended school and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1960.
While growing up, Carolyn and her family were very involved in the Ogallala Rodeo and Carolyn was named Nebraska State High School Rodeo Queen in 1960. Following high school, she attended Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado. In 1962, Carolyn married Robin Rasmussen of North Platte, Nebraska. Two daughters were born of that union: Brenda and Lisa. While living in Omaha, Carolyn served the community through her involvement with Jaycees and March of Dimes. Carolyn served on the board of the Omaha chapter of Jaycees. Carolyn and her daughters relocated to Ogallala in 1977 where she worked with her parents at The Linen Shop and Sewing Machine Center. She was also involved in the United Methodist Church. In 1978, Carolyn suffered a brain aneurysm and a massive stroke. She spent many months at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. Upon her return to Ogallala, her parents and the community wrapped support around Carolyn and her daughters. In her determination, Carolyn continued to persevere through multiple physical and health challenges throughout her life. Carolyn had such a kind heart. Her love of others, smile, and sense of humor were blessings to so many. She brought joy and laughter to those who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters Brenda (Tony) Ketcham, of Ogallala; Lisa (Jeff) Morris of Colorado, and her four grandchildren, Abby (Travis) Brannan of Oregon, Maddie Ketcham of Ogallala, Ellie and Carson Morris of Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Irene Harmonson.
A memorial service will be held for Carolyn at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala on Tuesday, November 21st at 10:00 with Rev. Curt Magelky officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Keith County Foundation Fund.

Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
