Virginia "Beth" Shelton was born October 14, 1962, to Gene and Elizabeth Shelton in Denver. She passed away at the North Platte Care Center on March 2, 2024, at the age of 61.
Beth grew up in North Platte where she graduated from NPHS then Mid-Plains Community College while working as the head cook at the American Legion.
Beth loved animals, the water and adventure, so in 1986 she followed her dream and moved to the Grand Cayman Islands. She spent the next 26 years as a diving instructor, underwater photographer, and was a boat captain. Beth owned Celebrity Divers which offered small groups personalized service. She loved what she did and enjoyed helping others experience the water. In 2012 she returned to North Platte.
Beth leaves behind her mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Leo Colson, of North Platte; sister, Carol Edwards (Kevin) of North Platte; brothers, Ron Shelton of Loup City and Don Shelton and Fred Shelton (Theresa) of North Platte; step siblings, Tim Colson (Dana) and Don Colson (Kathy) of Florida and Brenda Solomon (Randy) of Missouri; nieces and nephews, Mindy Imsdahl (Ben), Nicole Johnson (Toby), Christina Shelton, Austin Shelton (Ashley), Dezarae Johnson (Eric), Derick Shelton (Shandell), Samuel Shelton, Candice Vetock (Tyler) and Kammi Altig (Aaron); and other family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Shelton; and step brother, James Colson.
