Crews respond to a grass fire north of North Platte

North Platte Post 

North Platte, NEB. - Crews responded to grass fire just north of North Platte on Twin Lakes Road Wednesday afternoon.  The North Platte Volunteer Fire Department requested mutual aid from surrounding communities. The fire has been contained.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office announced that evacuations were requested for Calvary Hills Subdivision and Thunderhead Road around 4:00 pm. Those who were to evacuate from the area, shelter is available at the Salvation Army in North Platte.  

According to the Lincoln County Sherrif's Department, roads are beginning to open back up.  These roads are North Twin Lakes Road and Hall School Road. The roads were closed as emergency crews were battling the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, it's unknown how many acres were destroyed or if any injuries have occurred to livestock or individuals in the area.
