   Delbert Henry Maris was born on a farm north of Stratton, NE on August 23rd, 1931. His parents were Floyd & Mildred Bahlke Maris. He graduated from Stratton High School in 1949/1950. He played all sports in high school. After he graduated, he worked in construction and helped build the Trenton Dam. 

    He had one brother, Ervin, and two sisters, Elaine & Jean.

    He entered the Army in August 1952 and received his training at Fort Ord, California in the infantry division and served overseas in Korea.  He received his honorable discharge in June 1954. 

    He met Roberta the day after he got home from being discharged from the Army. They were married a year later in Maywood, Nebraska at the Methodist Church. They had four children: Darlene, Gary, Gerald and Ron. 

    Delbert is preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Geihsler in 2004; grandson, Craig Geihsler in 2015; brother, Ervin Maris; sisters; Elaine Bley and Jean Wach; brothers-in-law, Ron Wach and Ervin Bley; sister-in-law, Sandra Maris. 

    Delbert is survived by his wife, Roberta; sons, Gary Maris of McCook, Gerald (Debra) Maris of Culbertson and Ron Maris of McCook; grandchildren, Rod Geihsler, Lisa Johnson, Chris (Melissa) Maris and Richard Maris; great-grandchildren, Emily and Alexa Johnson, Avory and Halee Maris, Gage Geihsler and Jaidon Kimball; son-in-law, Gene Geihsler. 

    Visitation for Delbert will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM-5:00 PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. A funeral service for Delbert will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the McCook Evangelical Free Church at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jerry Ruzicka.  Burial at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery is scheduled for 1:00PM.
