(North Platte, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin September 11 on US-83, from reference post 148+00 to reference post 148+50, according to the Nebraska Department of&nbsp; Transportation.&nbsp;

M.E. Collins Contracting Company, Inc. of Wahoo is the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge joint repairs on the Thedford Viaduct. Traffic will be maintained with lane closures and temporary traffic signals. A 14-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is October 2023.&nbsp;

The purpose of this project is to preserve the transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.&nbsp;

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones&nbsp; down.&nbsp;
