Gregg Mitchell Todd, 61, of North Platte, Neb., passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Great Plains Health. He was born on May 4, 1962, in North Platte, Neb., to Richard Riggs Todd and Ima Joyce Ferguson.
Gregg grew up in North Platte and attended North Platte Public Schools until graduating in 1980. He spent the majority of his life as a self-employed musician, playing in Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, and Colorado, as well as teaching drum lessons both privately and for Kittle’s Music.
Gregg married Florence Gonzales on Jan. 6, 1990, in North Platte, Neb., and shortly after the couple lived briefly in Vestal, New York, while waiting for Florence to finish graduate school. The couple returned to North Platte in the summer of 1990. They had two children, Lydia and Samuel.
Having started his musical training around the age of 14, Gregg was a world-class drummer. He played in several local bands (Stranded, Skyotes, The Hatchbacks, Innocent Mischief, and Jack and The Pros to name a few,) as well as in the orchestra pit for many musicals performed at North Platte High School, North Platte Community College and North Platte Community Playhouse.
Gregg had a great sense of humor and was a lover of history. He loved children and animals best. He had definite opinions. He had a recognizable and familiar voice. Music was his passion and anywhere he found himself, he would find something to make into a drum. He had an infectious spirit and always looked for the positive.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Florence; his children, Lydia (Elizabeth) Wilkinson Gonzales of Vallejo, Cal., and Samuel Todd of North Platte, Neb.; granddaughter, Esme Flora Gonzales; siblings, Rick (Victoria) Todd of Amarillo, Texas, Joni (Gonzalo) Gallegos of Arlington, Va., Julie Todd of North Platte, Neb., and Jeff Todd of Apple Valley, Minn.; nieces, Gaylene Latham, Ruthanna Autry, Isabella Gallegos, Liliana Gallegos, Samantha Rabinowitz, Lilly Rabinowitz; nephews, Nathan Todd, Paul Todd and Joe Rabinowitz; and pets, Halley and Deuce and, granddog, Luther.
