Florence (Burrier) Wing passed away in the early morning hours on December 13th, 2023 at the age of 87.

Florence was born on the 6th of October, 1936 in Charles City, Iowa, to Harry Sr. and Helen (Humble) Burrier.  On April 20, 1957, she married the love of her life, Leslie Allen Wing in Iowa.  To this union were born three children: Mike, Paul (Sherry), and Debbie (Bob) Dibble.  Les' employment (IBM) led to the family moving from Kansas City, MO to Poughkeepsie, NY, to Atlantic City, NJ, to Salt Lake City, UT, to Montreal, Quebec, CAN, to Akron, OH and eventually to North Platte, NE.  Through it all, Florence managed the details of each move while caring for three children.  Florence loved antiques and later in life conducted estate sales in Northeast Ohio and loved to talk about the people she worked with and the treasures they found.   Florence was stubborn (a character trait passed on to her son, Paul) and very private.  She loved adventure; at 82 years old she went skydiving, loved riding on Mike’s motorcycle (Fast), and was making plans to go zip-lining.

During the last Thanksgiving together, Florence wanted to cut down on the size of the meal to prevent unnecessary waste and save on cost (to say that Florence pinched pennies would be an understatement).  After buying a large turkey breast with all of the fixings to go along with the meal, Florence then realized that certain family members preferred drumsticks, so she purchased a pack of 4.  Others liked wings, so she purchased a pack of 8.  When all was said and done, the “Franken-turkey” cost more than a regular turkey and there was enough left over to feed a third-world nation.  Those privileged to know Florence will have many such memories.

Florence is survived by her children; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Irene of Iowa and a brother, Harry Jr. of New Mexico.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie (2009); daughter-in-law, Barb; sisters, Betty Nixt, Darlene Kelvig, and Verna Pint; and brothers, Leonard and Larry; along with a great grandchild.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Grace Community Bible Church in North Platte with Pastor Doug Witzke (Cornerstone Bible Church, Crete, NE) officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Garfield Cemetery.  Those wishing to sign the book may do so 9:00-5:00, Monday, December 18, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
