   Doretta J (McBride) Anderson was born in Imperial, Nebraska on May 30, 1941 to Robert and Lola (Stinnette) McBride. Doretta passed away Monday,  August 12, 2024. She was 83 years old.

    Doretta attended school in Wauneta, Nebraska and graduated high school with the class of 1958. Doretta then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where she studied business. Doretta married Harold “Peco” Anderson on February 13, 1960. To this union two sons were born, Andrew R. and Hugh L.  Doretta was employed by the Village of Wauneta for over 40 years. Peco and Doretta enjoyed spending time together road tripping to various casinos throughout the country. They also enjoyed attending Husker football games. Most of all, they dearly loved attending their grandsons’ events throughout the years. Doretta had passion for reading books, completing sudoku and crossword puzzles, spending time in her garden and volunteering at the Wauneta Senior Center.

    Doretta was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Peco”, son Andrew, parents Robert and Lola, brothers-in-law: Ted Anderson, Robert Morris, Richard Nordhausen, and Gary “Butch” Doetker; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Anderson, Diana “Sis” Doetker and Willa McBride.

    She is survived by her son: Hugh (Nancy) Anderson of Benkelman; Grandsons: Benjamin (Brooke) Anderson of McCook, Joshua (Jordyn) Anderson of Benkelman, and Zachary Anderson of Lincoln; Great-Grandchildren: Andrew D. Anderson, Andrew R. Anderson and Lillian Anderson; Sisters: Madolyn Morris of North Glenn, CO, Colleen (Ben) Garton of Greeley, CO; Brother: Robert (Bonnie) McBride, of Wauneta, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews

    Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (CENTRAL TIME) at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Doretta's family will greet friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM (CT).

    Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. (MOUNTAIN TIME) on Friday August 16, 2024 at the Wauneta Global Methodist Church in Wauneta, Nebraska with Reverend Brian Loy officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery of Wauneta.
