NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — One of Nebraska’s most anticipated summer festivals, North Platte Rail Days, returns July 29 through August 3, 2025, promising a weeklong celebration of the city’s rich railroad legacy with tours, shows, food, music, and community gatherings.

Hosted around the historic Golden Spike Tower and the world-renowned Bailey Yard, the event kicks off Tuesday, July 29, with VIP Perks Pass pickup and continues with exclusive early access events for VIPs, including private yard tours and gift shop discounts on Thursday.

The public festivities ramp up Friday with Bailey Yard tours offered four times throughout the day, a Model Train Show at the D&N Event Center, and a “Welcome to Nebraska” celebration on the Golden Spike Tower lawn. Twilight Tours at the Tower will give guests a rare nighttime view from one of railroading’s most iconic spots.

Saturday’s lineup expands to include the Breast Cancer Walk at Cody Park, Tractors, Trucks, Trains & Planes family event, and a Pulled Pork & Corn Feed hosted by the Lincoln County Historical Museum. The day ends with music and fun at “Trains & Tunes” by the Challenger Display.

Rail Days closes on Sunday with a Kiwanis Pancake Feed, the final day of the Model Train Show, and a Closing Ice Cream Celebration at the D&N Event Center.

Organizers say the event, supported by free-will donations, is a chance to honor the vital role of railroads in Nebraska’s history and economy. “North Platte is home to the world’s largest classification rail yard, and Rail Days is our way of sharing that pride with the community and visitors from across the country,” said an event spokesperson.

All events are open to the public, with most activities offered at no cost. VIP passes provide early and enhanced access throughout the week. For more information, visit the Golden Spike Tower’s official website or social media channels.
