Motorists in Lincoln County should prepare for construction-related delays as the Lincoln County Department of Roads begins its 2026 Asphalt Milling and Overlay Project next week.
Work on Project 2026-01 is scheduled to begin Monday, July 20, on South Hershey Dickens Road, stretching from the Interstate 80 state limits south to Nebraska Highway 23.
A second phase of the project is expected to begin around August 3 on North Hershey Road, from Nebraska Highway 30 north to North River Road.
During construction, drivers can expect temporary lane closures, reduced speed limits and brief delays. A temporary gravel shoofly will be installed at South Hershey Dickens Road and Correction Line Road to safely divert traffic around the work zone.
County officials encourage motorists to use alternate routes whenever possible and to follow all posted traffic signs and directions from flaggers while traveling through construction areas.
The Lincoln County Department of Roads thanked the public for its patience as crews work to improve the quality and safety of the county's roadways.
