Great Plains Family Medicine - Mullen Clinic: Longstanding Physicians Announce Retirement

MULLEN, NE – September 13, 2024 — After years of dedicated service to the Mullen  community, Dr. Steve Boyer and Dr. Margaret Cavanaugh-Boyer will retire on Monday,  September 30, 2024. This coincides with changes at the Great Plains Family Medicine -  Mullen Clinic. 

In their farewell letter, Dr. Boyer and Dr. Cavanaugh-Boyer paid tribute to their patients with  these heartfelt words: "It has been our great privilege and honor to provide your healthcare.  The connections we've made with our patients have been truly cherished, and we will  always remember our time in this community with fondness and gratitude." 

As the Mullen community prepares for these changes, Great Plains Health is offering the  following options for patients seeking continued care: 

• Great Plains Family Medicine in North Platte: Dr. Sandra Bresnahan and Dr. Praveena Vantipalli are ready to welcome new patients. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 308.568.4700. 

• Great Plains Health Internal Medicine: For adults with complex or chronic illnesses, the internal medicine team, including Dr. Raymond L. Carlson, Dr. Jovanka Vuksanovic, Michelene Witthuhn, APRN, and Tamara Clouse, APRN, are available. Patients can call 308.568.3730 to establish care. 

Misti Hutchison, Chief Provider Network Officer at Great Plains Health, offered the following  statement: "For many years, Dr. Boyer and Dr. Cavanaugh-Boyer have been the  cornerstones of healthcare in the Mullen community. Their dedication has set a high  standard, and we honor their service. While we will miss their presence in Mullen, our North  Platte team is ready to serve patients with the same quality and personalized attention  they've come to expect." 

Key information for patients: 

• Dr. Boyer and Dr. Cavanaugh-Boyer will retire on Monday, September 30, 2024.

• All patient records will be transferred to Great Plains Health's secure system. This transfer occurs regardless of whether patients choose to continue care with Great Plains Health or seek care elsewhere. 

• Patients can access their records on-site at the Mullen clinic until October 8, 2024. After this date, records can be obtained through the Great Plains Health Information Management Department at 308.568.7440. 

• Patients are encouraged to stay informed about future healthcare options in their community through local news sources.
