Arnold, NE- Betty L. (Lucas) McKain age 95 of Arnold died November 3, 2023, at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Arnold United Methodist Church with Pastor Lana Day officiating. Inurnment will be in the Arnold Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Arnold is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to the Arnold United Methodist Church, the Arnold Alumni Association, or the Arnold American Legion.
Betty Lucile (Lucas) McKain was born on October 5, 1928, in Arnold, Nebraska to Floyd D. and Ella (Kraisinger) Lucas. Betty grew up in Arnold and graduated from Arnold High School in 1947. Betty then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Betty returned to her hometown and worked as a telephone operator.
Betty was married to Rex McKain in 1952. The couple made their home in Arnold. Three children were born to this union: Mary, Susan, and Robert.
Betty’s greatest love was her family. When the children were growing up, she helped with their activities and attended the events that they participated in. Betty loved God and all of God’s creations. She was an active member of the Arnold United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed bird watching, riding horses, working in her yard and garden, and being out in nature were several of her favorites. Betty was even known to go fishing with her son. The community of Arnold was very important to Betty. She was active in the Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, volunteered for the SORC, was an EMT and even planted flowers around town.
Betty is survived by her children; Mary (Frank) Dymond of Hershey, Susan (John) Blair of Flint, TX, and Robert (Tammi) McKain of Sutherland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Mark (Haidee) McKain, Justin (Emily) McKain, Randon (Myria) McKain, Greg McKain, Jeff Blair, and Jillian Gonzales, great-grandchildren Addison, Aspen, Oakleigh, Brylee, Kaleb, Nolan, Summer, Carolina, Danny, Kaylee, Valle, and Heavenlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson Gavin Blair, and a brother Bob Lucas.
