OGALLALA, Neb. (Aug. 26, 2025) — The Ogallala City Council will meet Tuesday for back-to-back sessions focused on the city’s budget, salaries, nuisance abatements and community development agreements.
A special meeting at 4:30 p.m. will center on fiscal year 2025-26 budget discussions. Topics include funding for the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department, ambulance services, PeopleService utilities, airport operations, community development, debt service, LB840 economic development funds and medical benefits.
The council will reconvene at 7 p.m. for its regular meeting at City Hall, 411 East 2nd St.
The evening session’s agenda includes recognition of Victoria Edwards for five years of service to the city and a presentation by Barry and Lynda Jollensten regarding water damage linked to a blocked sewer line. PeopleService Inc. is also scheduled to provide an update.
Council members will consider an ordinance establishing the salary of the city manager and review a services agreement with the Ogallala/Keith County Chamber of Commerce. Community Development Director Mary Wilson is expected to provide an update from the Keith County Area Development office.
Planning and zoning matters include nuisance abatement resolutions for three properties on West 2nd and West 3rd streets, along with the rescinding of nuisance designations for five other properties.
The council will also discuss possible modifications to water and sewer rates.
